Maiden Names: Marisa Da Barca & Brian Nicholls Our Wedding Date: July 12, 2002 Our wedding took place: Forest Gate, London - UK How did we become engaged? In Greece on my husband's birthday Our favorite wedding memory: Saying the vows, jumping the broom & having a good dance! About Us I was born in Mozambique & my husband is West Indian (Dominica & St Kitts) but I was brought up in Portugal, so we wanted an African/European wedding. Our Wedding Ceremony My husband (Brian Nicholls) wore an African gown and I wore a traditional white dress but we also jumped the broom which is an African Tradition. It was fantastic, because one of the ushers was playing the drums & while he did that, my sister read a little poem explaining the tradition of the jumping of the broom. Everyone then said a little chant & Brian & I jumped into our new future together. We had 230 guests during the day and another 200 in the evening & went on our honeymoon the next day to Bahamas for 2 weeks. |
