I plead the 5th.... & I actually stop counting about a month ago. I am proud to say that we paid for everything cash, so we will not start this union with any more debt than we already have.

Re: Grand dollar totals

MzTajsia congratulations! Girl share your secrets.

We set a budget of $5,000 originally then it went to $10,000. After all was said and done, we actually spent about $12,500 in total (ceremony, reception, honeymoon, everything). I am grateful to the Master that we didn't go in debt or owe anyone any money.

Re: Grand dollar totals

I had my reception at a restaurant (banquet room upstairs) which saved us a few thousand dollars. This is where we saved the most money. My husband's marching band hosts a lot of banquets there so we were able to get the "royal hook-up".

I KNEW we should've eloped!!

Thankfully, we too are paying cash (thankfully w/our parent's help), but I refuse to start a marriage w/more debt that we already have.

OMG MrsRobinson you are too funny! Thank God that you can have the wedding of your dreams! God is good all of the time!

We had to cut the cost of our wedding because, we don't own a home or a car, so we didn't want to spend a lot of money on a wedding because we have some goals that we need to accomplish and we need money to do it. Also my daughter is going to college next year lawd hammercy -- I might need some oodles of noodles too!

Anyone have ooodles of noodles for Rhony's family & myself? We're both looking for some as of now. Smile

Rhony, you did the right thing as we don't own a home either & have between the 2 of us, 1 good car. But, God is good. Thankfully, we only do this wedding thing once (I Hope). I'm a firm believer that life's too short & you should live it to the fullest...even if you do go overboard for a few things. Smile You're never promised tomorrow, so don't put anything off or skimp on anything; including your wedding.

Re: Grand dollar totals

Our total is $10,000! Thats for everything and the extras (like my sister's dress, his brother's suits, taking my mom and sister to the spa the day before, even our gifts for each other and our Bridal Party, Parents, Pastor, Church, etc). And except for about 300.00 left for the hotel stay on the card, its all paid for, including the ringsSmile...CASH IS KING! We paid all vendors with either Cash, a Cashier's check or with our debit visa cards.
The reception and ceremony/photog/video/coordinator cost us about $6,000.00. We SAVED A LOT on photography, videography, and the reception cost/pp because we had a great coordinator who had the hook-up! The church was free, so we gave an adequate donation. The biggest chunk of our money went to the rings-which we paid off on our card in January before interest kicked in. The overall result of the event was probably worth twice what we paid so I give all praises to the MAKER!

Re: Grand dollar totals

Its funny because our original budget was set at 6000.00. We just couldn't fix our mouth up to say more than 10,000.00. But secretly I knew we would....However, its always better to start scaling back, and going from there, instead of coming out the blocks fast spending all this money, and come up short or have to scale back later on, after you get your heart set on something, then realize you can't afford it...
I think its great that anyone can afford to spend as much as possible, but to me, as long as its worth that much to you in the end. I sometimes envy those who can afford to initially budget 10-15,000.00 and up, and thats a blessing from the Lord to me...but like I said, as long as it looks like you spent more than that, AND your result is awesome.....I have seen people spend like 40,000, and in 1 year they are divorced or like, they spend the same amount and they are in all this debt, or even still, they spend all this money and they end up HATING the wedding or its poorly coordinated and everyone ends up remembering the mess instead of the beauty, or get to appreciate the details that the money was supposed to cover.....

Bumblebeekee wrote: Its funny because our original budget was set at 6000.00. We just couldn't fix our pouth up to say more than 10,000.00.

I know what you are saying ...I don't have it right at this very moment. Like you we are both saving and so far we half of that saved and a lot stuff we already purchased years ago when wedding businesses were going out of business. I doubt we spend even the half we have saved with the mother and godmother I have them ladies will find a deal if kills them. So I am going with the budget and no more I pray it will be less. We are trying to do both save to by the house and plan. I know the feeling about people spending all that money and then end up divorced a week later or the wedding look like someone just threw it together. My mom was in one of those wedding and she still ready to strangle the young lady to this day.

ROFLMAO @ the people who "missed" their invites. Don't you just love them?

Don't you just LOVE those people that invite themselves to your wedding? I get the..."GURRRRLLLL I already got my dress!!"....well honey where do you plan on wearing it is my answer. Or I get "I'll be chking my mailbox"....it's crazy.....why do you think you are getting an invitation just cause I speak to you every once in a while at work. A WHOLE LOT of people are going to get their face straight BROKE when they find out they are not receiving an invitation....this stuff ain't free man!!

Re: Grand dollar totals

Soon...I soooo hear ya! My niece had the absolute audacity to get flam w/me b/c she tells me "I told you that I wanted to be in the wedding. I already bought a dress". SO, I told her to hold it for her own wedding...good luck w/that! People sure do show their true darned colors around wedding time.

All I know is...let someone show up that wasn't invited. I WILL see to it that their a$$ is casually escorted off property. If they don't want to leave? Well, hey..pay up!! They can pay for their own plate...that'll shut them down. I'm tired of negroes right about now, b/c they got some set of kahunas on them to even try.

SHUT UP!!!! I have a big family in Westbury! You may know them! Actually, I'm heading your way on Saturday because my uncle is sick. He lives in Westbury but he's at a hospital in Plainview (I think that's the city).

Re: Grand dollar totals

My total to date is $18,000, I know that sounds like alot but we have been planning this day for the past year and a half, we are getting everthing we want and have budgeted for it. I know by the big day the total will have increased.
I have told my coordinator not to let anyone into the reception that has not RSVP'ed. I am dead serious about it and don't care who dosen't like it. Like I have learned by visiting this site "My Day, My Way"
Happiness is only a prayer away!
