Re: Cake Man Raven

Welcome to the site Choklittkiss! I went to a banquet in November '06 (my pastor's birthday celebration) and they ordered the cake from Cake Man. Girl it was a red velvet cake that was out of this world! They also had a cake made in the shape of a bible that was regular yellow cake and it was delicious!

Cake Man Raven

Anybody using Cake Man Raven out of Brooklyn or tasted one of his cakes?? I heard he is the bomb and I'm trying to support "us" throughout my whole wedding.

ooohhhh!!! That's exactly what I wanted...Red Velvet. My mother says it's tacky for a wedding, but I want it.

We used Cake Man for one of our events at work. All I can say is WOW! The cakes are amazing! They put so much detail into the decorations that you almost feel guilty cutting it to eat it.

Re: Re: Cake Man Raven

We used him for one of our Mickey D's events. He made a red velvet cake with a hamburger, fries, Milkshake and even a standing Golden Arches sign. It took 4 of his crew to bring it in and it looked GREAT! I'll see if i still have the pic of it somewhere in my office.

But yeah, my cake is already taken care of so no cake man for me.

Re: Re: Cake Man Raven

oooh based on what you guys are saying and what I've heard, I think the Cake Man may just be worth the extra $$$$!!! Lord, da man make sweet potato pie. YUUMMMMYYYY!

But his prices aren't over the top especially for specialty cakes. Maybe they have a payment plan until your wedding day.

I was just gonna say, his prices actually aren't that bad. Not when you have Silvia Weinstock up there in the NY charging a minimum 10.00/slice. She has a website too. This chick ships her cakes to The philipines. If you want her to ship your cake you have to buy a plane ticker for her delivery guy, AND the cake too. The don't put no cakes in cargoSmile

But I heard of cakeman raven, he did a cake for a football player and his wife getting married on Who's Wedding is it anyways? The cake was very nice, but he gave them the scare of their lives because he was late...The wedding was like in Jersey or something. Anyhoo. His stuff is hot. I say do it if you can afford it....Payment plan, whatever, as long as you get what you want!

Re: Re: Cake Man Raven

Ajia, he did a good job on the cake.

House, I think that would be so cute! Call him and see if it would work out for you.

Bee, that would be one cake I would not even begin to be able to afford (the plane tickets)! That's crazy.

Re: Re: Cake Man Raven

Thanks Rosey. My bridal shower theme is Brunch at Tiffany's and I would love to have individual tiffany box shaped cakes for my guest, but the prices that I have seen so far is rediculous.

That's my whole point Rosey! Smile I wouldn't be ordering from them because I will not be paying for 2 airline tickets for it to be shipped to me! lol

Re: Re: Cake Man Raven

Okay, I used his red velvet cake recipe a couple of weekends ago to make cupcakes, and it turned out good. He was on the food network and they posted the recipe on the website.

Some people didn't like it because its not as chocolatey, but I am sure they were white. I know black folks (especially down south) don't like no Chocolate Red Velvet Cake, they want one that is Bright red inside, like his. On the reviews they made comments about adding more chocolate and the like, but it was good. I definitely recommend this guy if you live in that area.

Re: Re: Cake Man Raven

We get orders at the store for things to be shipped to Malta, Bahrain (I never even heard of it before then) and they pay huge sums to make sure they get it for their weddings. If ya gotta have it ya gotta have it!

Share some of the costs at your bridal shower. This party isn't just for your closest friends. it is for just about any woman in your family and friend circle or couple up. Ask that it be pot luck if you don't care that they may not bring a wedding gift! lol Your maid of honor or your mother throws this party anyway so ease up on the spending.
