Re: PASSPORT RESTRICTIONS

Another option is to travel to the US virgin Islands or Puerto Rico if you want a caribbean vacation. No passport required. EVER. SO cool and there are cheap direct flights leaving everyday form major cities.

Consider all US possessions like American Samoa, Guam, Marshall Islands, Federated States of Micronesia. Northern Marianas or Palau. Really exotic locations and you can go on your birth certificate and a driver's license. Yeah you still can 'cause I just got back from PR on my Birth Certificate. PR is REALLY strict too.

Re: PASSPORT RESTRICTIONS

*** Update**** to post.

Ok so the us bcuz they are so dang backwards is lifting the bans, but the other countries may not.

Like in my case Jamaica the "NO PROBLEM" country is saying

Ya haf no pasport ya no cum en!!!

Which puts everyone including the US back at square one!!

The US lifted the restrictions until september becuse that is when the busy season ends, they are all booked up in appointments until then.

I so wish I had the money to move to England or Canada right about now!!!

Re: PASSPORT RESTRICTIONS

I have mine but my little ones do not.

So I had to go get them in March. It's been 14 weeks and still no passports and they have to have their BC to get into and out of Jamaica. But you have to send the BC to get ur passports.

Re: PASSPORT RESTRICTIONS

Why is it taking so long. My hubby just got his in 3 weeks. Did you put a rush on it? Also if you put in yopur travel date you get moved up the list. (what I was told at the passport office.)

Re: PASSPORT RESTRICTIONS

Well we didn't think it was going to take 20 weeks for us to get.

We purposely did it in Feb to avoid this.

I think the goverment did not except that there would be so many people traveling to these places.

If they were really smart they would have broken it up. So they could handle it all.

Re: PASSPORT RESTRICTIONS

Can you get a certified copy of the little ones' BC? I got myself one after I sent in my passport app. It took 5 days at the currency exchange but would have gotten it on the spot at the dept of records.

Re: PASSPORT RESTRICTIONS

I just received my passport on Friday. I ordered at the end of May..so I guess it took about 11 or 12 weeks.

Although I have mine I think we are going to look into going to St Thomas (US Virgin islands) or Hawaii

For travel to US Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, passports are not required; only birth certificates and picture I.D.

Re: PASSPORT RESTRICTIONS

Hi, is anyone still having problems or know what's going on with passports?

It looks like since about 2006 its been taking people a while to get theirs but when I applied for mine in 2004 I got it in about a month.

Its definitely good to give yourself more like 5-6 months the way its looking.

Re: PASSPORT RESTRICTIONS

FH and I applied for our passports the sat. after Thanksgiving ('07) and received them before Christmas-so it took about 3 weeks. I think for the summer brides, since summer is a heavy travel time, it might be wise to get the passports now "just in case" they do get in a back log with the summer travelers...

Re: PASSPORT RESTRICTIONS

I'm sorry to hear that. FI has some arrears that should hopefully be cleared before the wedding, but if not we are considering honeymooning in Puerto Rico as no passport is necessary because it is a US territory

I want to go to Puerto Rico too! I saw the commercial the other day! I don't know where my passport is (Probably at my mom's in South FL)-don't feel like fetching a new one unless a great opportunity appears to travel and a passport is needed.

Anyhoo, any word on the passport deal Teresa? My BIL went to the Dominican Republic (Its nice when your cousin plays for the Falcons and his teammates like you so much they take you around the world on their dime!)-and he said it took 2 weeks to get his passport-crazyness....

Re: PASSPORT RESTRICTIONS

child i wanted to go to cancun however my fh lost his passport, and now since we are at the last stages of the wedding planning we need every dime we can get our hands on. However I think we will go to south beach, this way we wont need a passport and I can still get some sort of sun and sand

Teresa, I hope everything works out for you.
Housewife, South Beach sounds like a great place to honeymoon. Didn't think of that.
My FH and I are going to honeymoon in Vegas, we didn't want to deal with the headache of getting passports. LOL. Plus, not sure what the weather would be like that time of year. PLAYING IT SAFE.

Re: PASSPORT RESTRICTIONS

My passport and FH's took about 3 weeks and they told us it would take about 4-6 weeks but it came early. We didn't even pay the expeditited $100 fee. That was back in February. Everybody in my family told us we would not get them back in time but maybe the process is changing.

I
don't understand your truth, the part about it not being great without
ugliness. I think that the topic is more about how beauty isn't skin
deep and how seeing things for what they are is what makes them
beautiful.
