Favor ideas

Hey Sistas,

I was going to do a cd of our wedding songs as our favor... I am weighing my options. I hear people say that alot of favors get thrown away.... How about this candle? is it too small?

Please forgive me, i need to learn how to post pictures and not links on this site....

Re: Favor ideas

Personally, I think a cd is a nice favor and also will remind people of you & FH special day! I am giving cd's of the wedding music to all of my wedding party as part of their gift along with other items; my wedding favor is a mini broom w/a magnet decorated in our colors with tags that say 'We jumped the broom' with our name and wedding date.

actually the brooms are not that expensive and since you have a while to plan you can purchase a few at a time; this is the site and what I did was decorated the broom with my wedding colors (flowers/ribbons) from here:

Re: Favor ideas

I did wedding CDs as a wedding favor. I received a few phone calls from my guest telling me that they enjoyed listening to some of the songs. That made me feel good because I didn't know if they would get tossed in the garbage, but I know that some people actually listened to my wedding "soundtrack".

I also like the mini broom favors. Those are nice.

Re: Favor ideas

MrsReed2bee, I don't think there's anything wrong with a wedding CD. I'm doing double CDs, wedding cake cookes, Merlot and champagne colored candles in the shape of roses. I think that whatever you choose to do, it would be nice because I know that you would put a lot of thoughts into it and they will appreciate it very much. As Rhonny said, wedding CDs never gets thrown away. I still have one from a wedding I was invited to in the mid 90s. It's awesome.

Re: Favor ideas

I found some favors....edible, and non-edible...Personally, I always love a sweet treat to walk out with, as long as its not corny or cheezy....we actually had a chef bake us our 2 favorite cookies: Lemon White Chocolate chip and Traditional Chocolate Chip cookies, and packaged them Gourmet Style in cellophane and a personalized label that my brother who has a graphic design business designed so it looks like those cookies in small portions you buy at the fresh market or a coffee shop....Of course those and all the extras we had were gone! As long as the favors are personable, reflect the event, and the bride and groom, its cool....People may throw away trinkets, so give them something they will remember, like the CD or thos puzzles House is doingSmile

But maybe these will help!

Okay this one is VERY similar to how ours was put together, but we used sticker lables on top with a tiffany blue or Silver thin ribbon!

This one is even closer but the tag is hanging! But they'll definitely gobble this up!

Instead of a CD plastic case, slide it into a pretty one like this:

Fill a mason jar with lemonade or limade mix like this one here, and a cute tag....or put a hot chocolate, cookie, or cappucino mix for a sweet dessert when guests return home....

House, this one is for you! Show your guests you and your new DH are a perfect fit!

Or attach a cute tag to these sweet treats

This is a simple favor wrapped in a simple, beautiful package....

If you are having a beach/outdoor/summer wedding, do your guests a "favor" and provide a much needed refresher with a personal message...

Slide a CD in these for your guests on their trip home!

This is a funny picture of the couple designed by them with their own "Album Name" for the CD and everything...

The DJ we have is will be doing our CD's, you can always do them yourself. But he is going to do our CD's while at the reception(he'll have extra staff on-hand)and our guests will received them as the reception ends. There are not many "blue and ivory" candies out there, so we are just going old school with all the penny candy that we bought as kids. From Whoppers to sweedish fish to mary janes to those carmels with the cream in the center! Smile)

Re: Favor ideas

ok ladies, I bit the bullet and decided to have a candy station! FH and I had a "blast" reminicing last night! we are going old skool:
candy lipsticks
candy cigarettes
chick-o-sticks
lemon heads
pixy stix
whoppers
candy necklace
sugar daddy
pop rocks
kits (taffy)
and we are going to expand our personalized cd's from just wedding party to about 75 where we will put one on every other seat, or have them on a table

Re: Favor ideas

Welcome New Season!

You have a couple of options...You can see if your DJ can design it, or a Google search for DIY CD cases can get you in the right direction. Try CDPrintExpress.com or Blissweddingmarket.com-this second one has the blank paper covers that open with two pockets: one for the Cd and one to put a nice note in....they are like 0.40/each. They sell the labels seperately for 7.50(I don't know how many)-and you can personalize the label with your name, colors, etc.
From Blissweddingmarket website: 0.40/each:

Or instead of ordering labels, you can make them yourself using ribbon, stickers, stamps, etc!

You can also check your local craft store like Michaels, or Hobby Lobby, and they may have CD-favor making kits. You can also try WalMart, Target, or Office Depot-in their Computer/Printing Paper section and find kits also that make CD Labels. Some kits include the sticker part where you create the design for the CD, and many will also include covers for the case also. You basically just need to come up with a nice design like the one in one of the previous posts....

Here are the directions to make this CD Cover:

Materials:
Paperboard CD Case
Continuously Printed Ribbon - 3/8" width x 50 yards (shown above in chocolate brown ribbon, brilliant magenta (pink) text
Adhesive paper collars
Scissors
Double-sided tape
Audio CD
Thank-you note and playlist

Instructions:
Insert your personalized audio CD into the inner left pocket of our Paperboard CD Case. Insert your playlist and/or thank-you note into the inner right-side pocket. Fold the CD case in half.

We found these decorative and adhesive paper collars in beautiful collars and patterns at our local Target store (me L-O-V-E Target!) in the scrapbook section. Wrap them around the CD case so that the ends meet in the back of the case. The ends of the collar won't meet completely but close enough. Wrap our personalized ribbon around the case and on top of the paper collar. Position the ribbon so that the names and date are front and center. Use double-sided tape to secure the ribbon to the back of the case.
We've been Happily Married 2 Years and Counting:)

Good News I found a person to put together cd's for us. A friend of a friend. Now I just need to find the perfect sleeve or cd holder. Thank you again for the suggestions. I Love Target too. Especially the $5.00 and under section when you first enter the store. Will be in touch.
