Hey ladies, I need your help desperately. I recently had to postpone my wedding date (after formal invitations had been sent out) and now I am ready to send out new invites with the new date but I don't know the proper way of doing so. The new date is 08/09/2008 and its in a new location. I wanted to get the new invites out by tomorrow (06/20/2008) in order to get by r.s.v.p in a timely manner. Should I do the new invites on postcards? And what's something catchy I can say being that the guests have already received formal invitations and are aware that we had to postpone the original date? HELP!!!

It depends on the level of formality involved in your wedding. How did you postpone the previous wedding date? Did your planner handle it for you or did you phone everyone or was postcards sent to everyone? That will help me in better assist you.

Because we postponed 2 weeks prior to the date, I had one of the bridesmaids make phone calls to only the ones that had rsvp'd. The original date was Memorial Day (05/26/2008), so it was important to let those that were planning on attending know in case they wanted to make other plans. The others, well they should have followed proper protocol because in the original invitations, it stated, "r.s.v.p required" on both the invitations and reply cards and instead of them mailing the reply cards back, we set up and email and voicemail box for them to use in addition to someone followed up with phone calls to verify attendance.

I answered this in the other post but I'll answer it here as well as you gave more information!

Since your guests that RSVPed were already informed of the postponement I would sent a postcard announcing the new date. Postcards would cut down on costs since formal invitations were already sent. For an RSVP option I would have them phone, email, or RSVP via a wedding website. Once again, this will cut down on costs. It will also be convenient for guests that have already sent in the original RSVP.

Possible wording:

The marraige of
Ms. Jane Doe
to
Mr. John Smith
has been postponed until
Saturday, the ninth of August
Two Thousand and Eight
at 6 o'clock in the evening

The new location is
Wedding Hall
1234 Wedding Street
Married, IL

Please RSVP using on of the following methods:
1. Call our RSVP hotline at xxx-xxx-xxxx
2. Email us at wedding@wedding.com
3. Via our wedding website at www.weddingwebsite.com

Thank you the "FutureMrs.KeepUp" your reply was nice but I was looking for something a little more catchy. Like maybe a inspirational quote from a song or poem, you know, basically saying something to the effect of overcoming obstacles but still keeping the faith and moving forward. I'm a spiritual person and I believe the challenges we experienced were suppose to detour our faith but we refused to let Satan win...and so I was really trying to think of a Bible verse or a gospel song with wording I can use.

"What's to come is better than what's been!" I used this on our invitations. I referenced the following verse:

Now that's more in-line to what I'm looking for, thank you "FutureMrsUpKeep". Now out of all of your suggestions, which one do you think fit better to my situation? My situation in a little more detail is, the closer we got to our day, anything that could go wrong financially seem to have went wrong, on top of the fact, my father fell very ill (and I am truly a daddy's girl). So again to me it was just the devil being busy trying to distract a "blessing to be" which makes me reference my favorite phrase "The devil is busy but so is my God" and now with God we've pulled through it all and we're ready to keep moving.

Off the subject real quick, how do you make the timeline signatures?

Truluv why not just use your favorite phrase "The devil is busy but so is my God". It fits perfectly and because it's already a personal favorite of yours, it has added meaning behind it. You could just put the phrase in past tense and say " the devil has been busy and so has my god" then put details of new date.

Ok, everyone! Give me your honest opinions. What if I say,

The devil is busy but so is our God! There's no stopping a "Blessing to Be"....We have reset the date!

I like... it truly does tell your story

If I was to be honest, I don't like it. It doesn't flow. I think you could just say:
The Devil has been busy but so has my God (written in a nice script font using one of your wedding colors)

I think since your fomal invites already went out, a really nice post card size/style invite would be okay.

As a Wedding Planner, I must admit that Pamcrow's idea is the best to handle your situation. It's catchy, to the point, honest and classy.
