Good Morning Ladies,

I am on my way back home, but just wanted to check in and tell you ladies how my day went. Well, the devil tried to create some obstacles however he did not prevail First of I was scheduled to have my rehearsal at the church on the wednesday before the wedding. Something kept telling me to contact the church and speak to someone just to confirm. I called church and the secretary answered the phone, I told her who I was and that I am scheduled to have my wedding there this upcoming friday and just wanted to confirm the rehearsal, she was very rude and told me that she had nothing on her scheduled and no one was just going to come to the church for that( meaning my rehearsal). I informed her that the pastor had already ensured me that I could have rehearsal. She said well there is nothing on my schedule so I will have to call the pastor and have him call you. I told her that I was at work and would it be possible for her to call me back and let me know what he said, the lady said oh boy, hold on. Now mind you she was not a young girl she was an older woman. She eventally came back to the phone and took down my number. She called me back about 1.5 later and told me that she called the pastor and he said that I could have rehearsal on thursday, but not wednesday. I tried to tell the lady that there was no way that I could have rehearsal on thursday because I had too much planned. She said well that's all we can do. I was so upset. When I got home I told my mother what had happened and she instantly called the church, by this time there was another lady who answered the phone, my mother told her what happened and the lady said it would not be a problem for me to rehearse on wednesday that she would be there and that she would leave a note for the daytime receptionist informing her that she would be there when we arrived. The next morning the daytime receptinist called me and said I see you called back here after I told you know one was going to be here. So I told her that my mother did and spoke to someone who is willing to stay at the church. She said well Mrs. Harris doesnt know what is going on so she was not suppose to tell you that, however I will allow you to practice, but you will have to pay an additinal 60.00. She told me that the price to use the church is usually 120.00 and dont know why the pastor didnt tell me this. But she will only charge me 60. I told her that I have already paid for the use of the churcha and she told me that this charge has nothing to do with the money that I have already paid the church. Needless to say I just went ahead and paid the lady the extra cost. At the church for the rehearsal the pastor and the same nasty lady pulled me into the church and told me that I would not be able to decorate the church thursday night because they will be having a funeral at the church friday morning. They told me that I could not decorate until 1:30 friday afternoon. I was so upset I just walked out of the office.

Morning of the rehearsal, My co-workers agreed to decorate the church since I would not be able to, so I dropped the items off with them and proceeded to the hair salon. Girl it was so hot that day that by the time I got to the hotel my curls had dropped. The makeup artist was so wonderful, all of my bridesmaids arrived on time, the limos and so did the florist. However there was a fatal car accident on the highway and the photographer was stuck in the middle of all of the traffic. So when he got to the hotel i was already dressed and my make up was done, so i was a little upset that he didnt get to take photos of that( ok i was alot upset). He started taking photo's when he walked in however I was sticking to my time constrictions, because I was not going to pay the limo company any overtime fees. So he took a couple of photos then I made him stop and I got my behind in the limo. We arrive at the church on time and I am just ready to claim my man. I thought I was going to be nervous and cry, but i was so ready for it to be over that i was not nervous. Everything went off without any problems. When the pastor asked the guest if anyone objected I turned around and put my hands on my hips as if to say I dare a negro to say one word. Everyone started laughing. The ceremony and reception was perfect. I could not have asked for anything else. I just wished the photographer would have taken some of the photo's that I felt was important. I just emailed the photographer asking him when will the photo's that he took be available for viewing, so as soon as he replys I will surely give you ladies the link. Wow MRS Housewife that was crazy with the church. I'm glad your day ended perfectly despite the initial hiccups. Can't wait to see those pictures! Congrats!

I'm glad you had a nice wedding day. And yes, the devil does try to cause trouble, even at a church! Sometimes, these churches hire unprofessional people or they're just volunteers and still don't know how to be professional. It sounds like maybe you should have had a talk with the pastor, time permitting. I think we take the word of Christian people. But still when it comes to important events like these, we really should get everything in writing. If you were promissed a particular date and time for your rehearsal, there should have been no problems with that...and you shouldn't have been told about paying an extra fee at the last minute. Our commercial venue didn't charge anything for our rehearsal, but this church did. Strange. I hope you wrote a check to the church, and didn't pay her cash.
