Re: Dress Shopping! HELP
Quality with gowns online isn't really an issue. You do get what you pay for but any dress you purchase would need a professional seamstress to alter it for you anyway. Some companies even offer returns if you are not happy. But Choose your dress based on fabric and your personal tastes. If you are wearing it once and are on a budget, most people can't tell the difference between a $300 gown and a $12,000 gown. Also remember you will be looking a pictures of you in the dress for the next 60 years. lol
See our article on Discount gowns online and our Gown Pjoto Galleries.

Discount Bridal Service, Inc.
I believe that there are other online discount companies. I know a few of the brides here have experience with them including using eBay.
I did purchase one of my wedding dresses online, the one that was very simple that I wore on the beach. I purchased it from David's Bridal online store. I just used measurements that I had already taken to select my right size. It fit perfectly and needed no alterations. I didn't use a discount company for the other gown because I was short on time and I wanted everything to be as stress-free as possible. I didn't want to deal with any hassles regarding returns and such. But if there was more time, I may have done some research and selected a reputable company.
So Nicky, I would say, if you have the time, go ahead and be careful. Who can resist a bargain? Another good way to get a deal is to participate in Filene's Basement annual "Running of the Brides." You may have seen that on TV. Bride's get to the store from the wee hours of the morning and line-up. Then, when the store opens, they go charging in grabbing dresses and trying them on. Smart brides go with a team of their friends/family to help them out.
Also, David's Bridal offers discount days throughout the year where you can save a lot of money on some designer dresses.

bring them. Just remember that it's YOUR dress for YOUR special day.
You will know which dress is right for you when you find it, and don't
let anyone talk you out of the one dress that you really want!
