Wedding and Reception

Okay, I just recently had to change my wedding day to a later day and the church is not available on that day. Well, we opted to have the wedding and the reception in the same place, only one thing, what am I supposed to do with my guest when the ceremony is over and we have to move the chairs around the tables?

Kedra, is another room available at your site that you can move the guests to have a cocktail reception while the main room is being changed over?

Re: Wedding and Reception

Is there a separate area where guests can move to so that they can enjoy a few hors d'hourves? An lobby area perhaps. If not, if weather permits, maybe you can provide some sort of outside entertainment for guests to enjoy while the change over inside is happening.

Yeah there's a back room (actually there are a few). I just dont know where we would keep the tables until they were ready to be used.

Re: Wedding and Reception

Kedra, usually tables can be folded and put in a back room until they're ready to be used. This can all be worked out. They'll have to do some hustling to get the tables out and set them up, but if that's what has to be done, they will likely do it. I suggest that you just sit down with the venue people and talk to them about it.

Having everything in one place is great. You can save money on limos, if you can change clothes at the same place. You also don't have to worry about traffic and being late if you do that.

How big is the room? Can the tables be already set up in the same room but hidden behind some sort of draping/backdrop?

Kendra are you working with a coordinator? If not, you might want to consider hiring one to make sure everything runs smoothly with the change over. You don't want to be worrying about all this on your special day. If you chose not to hire a coordinator, you will need some really trustworty people to set it all up for you. People who know how you want the room to look.

KEDRA I had this same problem but we had three rooms that we used but they all were linked so to speak what we did was used the middle room where the fireplace was for our ceremony where folks stood up for abot 15 mins we had about six pub talbes with 4 chairs at each for the elderly and diable and there were also two benches we used. i hope this helps.
