Re: Diamond Bride's blog....(at last!!!)
My bridesmaid dresses are being made by a family friend of my FH - we call her "Aunty". She has known since October 2008 that there are 5 dresses to make and most of them were measured in November. She kept telling me "there's no rush - it will not take me long to make these dresses". You can see the type of dress we wanted for the bridesmaid towards the beginning of this post.
Anyway, the months have been rolling by, and the girls have been attending for further measurements and we had the third fitting scheduled for last Saturday. I rang Aunty and asked if they were all ready for the final fitting - she said they were. So I collected all of my bridesmaids and we headed to her house for the final fitting. When we got to the door, Aunty said "I bet you've brought the one whose dress isn't finished!"
Turns out the none of the dresses were really finished, but one of them only had a front piece. My friend (whose dress was not finished) was not impressed and was really rude to Aunty - saying she could have stayed at home and she had wasted her time. My friend just sat down and said she didn't care whether she had her dress and went on her cell phone! It got to the point where the rest of us were so embarrassed at her behaviour that we couldn't wait to get out of there.
I understood where my friend was coming from, but she did not have to express herself in that way - especially to someone she doesn't know. The rest of the dresses were ill fitting and longer than we had measured.
When we finally left Aunty's house, we were talking about the wedding and 2 of my bridesmaid complained that this wedding was stressful! The cheek of it all! Do they even know how stressful it is to plan a wedding? They are complaining becasue they have to do their hair, buy shoes, plan the hen night - you would think they would have fun doing it!
Anyway, I think this is what happens when you have 5 bridesmaids who all want different things and you try to find some sort of compromise.
Sorry to rant for so long, but I feel like I don't know what to do with these girls....and we've got the hen night this Saturday!

What kind of alterations did you have? It sounds like you needed to hem the gown to match the height of your shoes. I have no experience wearing a hooped underskirt, so I don't know how well this will work. Try it and see if you like the width it gives the bottom of your gown.

Hey Diamondbride...we all have friends like that!! But dont worry about that, as long as your Aunty know what kind of person YOU are she will not hold it against you, and probably understands that you cannot control how another grown ass woman acts. Secondly how are the dresses coming along, and no dont panic about that, some people are more productive under pressure, so you will be suprised when things start falling into place.
Whats up for the Hen night?? You are so lucky its finally here...remember that and savour it, because the time goes by so fast (dont let BM drama take that away from you..or anything else for that matter)

Re:No subject
Well, we had the second hen event last weekend. My maid of honour told me that we were going to the spa - just me and her to relax. I didn't mind that because I kind of needed a rest. We drove to a little coffee shop at the airport - I thought it was a bit strange that we were at the airport, but she told me that the coach was picking us up from there.
Anyway, we had coffee and I told her I wanted to look at some new suitcases for the honeymoon. She insisted that we go to the coach straight away> I wondered why she was being so miserable, and when we turned the corner, I heard "SUPRISE!!! My bridesmaids and friends had got together to arrange a suprise trip to Dublin, Ireland for a hen weekend! I was so shocked - I always find out everything! How exciting.....but I didn't have my passport, clothes or anything. Turns out that FH was in on this too! He and my maid of honour had planned this - he packed my suitcase with clothes, gave her my passport and managed to keep this a secret for 3 months! I can't believe tjhey did that! I told FH that it was little things like this that made me sure I love him and want to marry him!
We had a fantastic girls holiday - drinking, lots of dancing, laughter, and the best friends and family a girl could ask for!
On a separate note, mum and dad have arrived from St Lucia, the wedding cakes are finished, bridesmaid dresses are finished. all the boys have their suits and I finally got an underskirt for my wedding dress that lifts my dress a couple of inches from the floor (it was too long!). Everything is finally coming together....... The rehersal is booked for Wednesday evening. I'll let you guys know how it goes........
