Reception Entertainment??

Okay Ladies what do you think of

Reception Entertainment??

Should the Reception just be centered around

the Bride and Groom or Should you have a Band/DJ or

some type of performance?

I was having a convo with my co-worker and I told her that

I would like my praise dancer from my church and the other

church's I teach to do a praise dance at my Reception. She

then said that she felt like it should just be about me and FI

and that she dont think that it would be a good idea.

Let me know what you think about it. TIA

Re: Reception Entertainment??

I think the praise dance should be more part of the ceremony. At the reception people are gearing up to get their party on so unless the dance is high energy and will get guests in a dancing mood, I probably wouldn't include it at the reception. Between you and FH first dance, the father daughter dance and the mother son dance, the cutting of the cake, garter & bouquet toss, the guest have enough interuptions. You know all while guests are eating they are just WAITING for the chance to get their cupid shuffle, cha cha/electric slide on. Don't add one more thing before they get their dance on..lol

Re: Reception Entertainment??

Were you planning on having dancing at your wedding or just a sit down dinner with soft music playing in the background? It makes a difference, but I agree with Pamcrow, your praise team is best for the ceremony, not the reception.

Re: Reception Entertainment??

We did a DJ for our wedding entertainment. It was a real good choice. He was amazing. Excellent & varied selection (which we had a hand in). Positive energy ... would do it again in a heart beat. The guests were full of compliments about it. All age groups, especially the older generation ... it was awesome.

Cheers. Marie

Re: Reception Entertainment??

We did a DJ too, but that's because we were LOOKING for high energy. So it depends on the mood you are looking for.

On an older version of Who's Wedding is it anyway the African American WC was helping a young couple who specifically asked for a romantic reception so they made it late (started after 8 PM), and adults only.....So there definitely were not any praise dancers there!

For a more family-friendly reception I can see the praise dancers there, but they would serve better at the ceremony (IMHO). My brother had praise dancers in his ceremony...They did a beautiful slower dance (it was 3 of them) and they dropped the flowers as they entered during a poem talking about love and God's will with soft music in the background....It was very beautiful!
