Re: Newcomer

December 30th is the big day! We're doing it in his hometown of Memphis (I'm from Chicago). We're stationed overseas so I got a WONDERFUL planner. I'm letting her handle everything. I just told her to center it all around red roses.

It's going to be very small, 20-25 family and friends. I'm not having bridesmaids, he's not having groomsmen. We weren't actually going to have the big ceremony right now. We were just going to do the justice of the peace thing in Memphis this month then do the big ceremony/reception in the summer in Chicago. But my family decided they wanted to come to the courthouse and witness it. So we just said what the heck. Then I found myself planning a wedding in 6 weeks!

Anyway, now I have a planner and its going well. I trust that she's going to hook it up for us. I'm excited, he's even more excited.

Re: Newcomer

Congrats Ericka! I'm excited for you and your romantic almost New Year's Eve wedding. I'm sure you're in good hands with your coordinator. It will be nicer to have your family and friends present, even if it's just a few people. I had an intimate wedding myself. So, did you get your gown? Details, please.

Re: Newcomer

No, I haven't got my dress yet. Actually, I can't even try on a dress until the day before the wedding. I live overseas and we don't have a mall here. We're getting to Memphis Sunday night and the wedding is Tuesday night. We have to get the license, find a dress, find a tux, find his ring, and have the rehearsal all in one day! This is why I got a planner. She is getting everything done. She is even going to David's Bridal and picking out dresses I might like and having them already lined up for me to try on when I get there.

Welcome Ericka. Centering everything around red roses sounds very romantic. I'm sure your planner will have fun doing something really intimate using this theme.

It sounds like a lot, but it can be done. It definitely sounds like you're in good shape. Re: David's Bridal, since you can check-out their designs online, which ones do you like? You can post their design numbers.

Re: Newcomer

Well I think I like the A-line strapless dresses. I got quite a bit in the back so I thought that might be best. At David's I really like E8475. T9297 is a bit on the plain side but I think a red sash around the waist would be nice.

Re: Newcomer

I hear that, and I'm right there with you. Surprised) They're both nice..and on sale! You can't go wrong with either. When you try them on you'll know which one you like better, and more importantly...which one you can take home that day. The first choice does have that extra "umph" with the embroidered lace design and chapel train and you can dress up the second one with a sash like you mention. When you select your long-line bra there (if you do), I suggest not to go with the one that hardly has boning and has a lot of foam inside, #8541, even though it seems comfortable at first. It tends to get bent out of shape very easily and pucker where it shouldn't. I bought one and brought it back for another.

Welcome ericka and congrats on your upcoming nuptials. Both gowns are beautiful but like our viprincess said the first has that X factor. But I guess whichever you choose you will end up a beautiful bride.

Re: Newcomer

One day to choose a dress!! Wow girl you are fierce. But I understand the reason. Good thing you can check out styles online. I love both the dresses- And yes I know what the ladies are saying about the dress on the right, but although the it looks very simple in the picture- those very simple dresses with clean lines always look elegant and sophisticated and timeless. It reminds me a little of the breakfast at tiffany's dress on Audrey Hepburn- in a strapless, bridal version!!

Re: Newcomer

For clarification, the first choice is the dress on the right. The dress on the left would use the sash.

I don't really have any colors. Or if I do, I don't know what they are. My planner is handling everything so it's mostly a surprise for us. We just told her we want something beautiful and inspired by red roses.

Here are the details that I left in another topic..

Rings have been purchased, dresses for all ladies and lil lady have been purchased and received (FH is currently matching the tuxs), Wedding favors are all ready to put together, Playlist is ready to be given to DJ (FH is taking care of that), and Wedding and Reception Venues have been confirmed. So I guess now is where the real fun begins...

I need to work on Invitations, Programs, Flowers, Photographer/Videographer, and the Cake. actually we have a idea for our cake...we just have to find the right person to pull it off.

You can find Chocolate invitations here.

I love the little Chocolate set up boxes. They are perfect for almonds or chocolates. Add self stick Ivory ribbon and it will make an elegant presentation.

You can get the chair tie backs in any color to match your theme. Use the rolls to decorate the chairs, head table or line the aisles.

Printed Napkins and Guest Towels are always a tasteful addition. They make really cool housewarming gifts too!

A truly classic favor is the simple Cake Candle. Practical and pretty.
Add the perfect finishing touch with beautiful Bridal Jewelry.
