Re: GINOUE'S UPDATED BLOG
There's also some drama people about the location of the wedding. Read on, you'll see!!! (Never a Dull moment in my life)
On to some happy stuff!!!
My FH and I was formally engaged on September 23rd, 2008 in Fort-Lauderdale, FL
After preliminary counseling with my Pastor and in order to avoid some major drama from my mother-in-law's church, we've decided to have the wedding in Maryland after all. So, FH and I will be married in Adelphi, MD; also known as Hyattsville, MD, on February 13th, 2010 at 6:00 P.M. and the reception will start at 8:00 P.M. We will be married in my church "Eglise Baptiste Du Calvaire". We will be sending out about 160-175 invitations, but planning on 150 guests. Our theme is still "Classic Elegance" and our wedding colors are still the same Dusty Rose, Merlot, Champagne & Gold. It will be very much a traditional Haitian Christian Wedding, with the traditional wedding dances down the aisle by the bridal party.
This is a picture of the church
This is just the center 2 as the sanctuary is equipped to hold over 3,000 people at our service.

Re: GINOUE'S UPDATED BLOG
The dilema is that not all of our guests are christians and we all want to dance, so I'm looking at several reception halls in the area that will allow us to bring in an outside caterer. I haven't made up my mind yet as to what I want to do.

Re: GINOUE'S UPDATED BLOG
Ladies, sometimes, you'll find that within your church are some hidden talents. The lady that's making my cake goes to my church and she was planning on starting her own business. She was the one that did the cake for our Pastor's 27th wedding anniversary and it was great. So, ladies, please ask around your church, you'll find that a lot of people got the type of talent you need to make your wedding a hit and you'll have their services for a major discount.

I've purchased the replica of Audrey Hepburn's tiara and jewelry set, the one she wore on "Roman Holiday" .I will not be wearing the earrings however because my ears are pierced and the earrings are clip ons.

I also think it's nice that you'll be getting married in your own church. You're familiar with the people, and it sounds like there will be less drama. I'm happy you found a "cake lady!" That's the way to go when you don't have a Publix in your area. Our "cake lady" also made our cake in her home. It was a family buisines handed down from her own mother. We saved so much money, and being "homemade" it was so delicious. Generally speaking, VI people like to get cakes and pastries for special occasions homemade.

Hattie Mc Daniel - first African American to be nominated for and win an Oscar.
Paul Robeson - scholar, athlete, actor, singer, writer, civil rights activist
Humphrey Bogart, Katherine Hepburn, Bette Davis, Judy Garland, Joan Crawford, Clark Gable, Vivien Leigh, James Cagney, Gregory Peck, Marlene Dietrich, Claudette Colbert, Ginger Rogers, Rita Hayworth, Ava Gardner, Lauren Bacall, Barbara Stanwyck, Gene Kelly, Betty Grable, Mae West, and John Wayne
The tables could also be names of various films. It would be nice if you could find an old theater to do the reception with red carpet, velvet rope and all. Your reception can be like an Old Hollywood premiere. Your arriving guests can have their pics snapped by the "paparazzi" as they walk the red carpet. When you and hubby make your grand entrance inside, they stand and applause the stars.
You could do flavored popcorn for some of your favors in nice bags or containers, and/or a candybar featuring movie theater favorites: junior mints, mike & ike, milk duds, whoppers, raisinets, kitkats, skittles, m&m's, etc.
If the gown you've chosen doesn't pan out, you can find a vintage style wedding gown here: www.vintagestyleclothing.com I read a note on the web about their great customer service including working with a bride stationed in the North Pole! The site might give you some ideas if nothing more. Since your wedding will now be in Maryland in January, you can also wear a fur stole with your gown. That's very old hollywoodesque.
Check out Ms. Demi Moore in Old Hollywood style:
She has on a fur jacket, but I'm thinking a stole for you. Something like this:
...and here are the centerpieces I mentioned in Sweet P's blog:
This one is called Crystal Fountain on sale for $39.99 at www.centerpiecestore.com
They would look very classic and pretty for your own wedding Ginoue,
If you don't use them as centerpieces, you can add a few throughout the room for effect.
...and you could add them to your wedding business stuff when you're done...and hey, if you do that, you could probably deduct it on your taxes as a business expense.

I am soooo sorry to hear about your sister. I am glad that they caught it in time. The important thing is to be there for her and spend as much time as you can. I took my mom to a makeover for cancer patients called "look good feel better" We had an awesome time!Always have something to so such as planning your wedding or working out that way when she recovers you will still have a life.
YOu are getting married on my birthday! Happy planning.

I think Harlow and SD5204 are red carpet bangin'!
Grace Kelly, Grace Lynette, and Angela have a very appealing classic antique innocence.
Sapphire, Flora, and Jessica are wedding day elegance.

Re: GINOUE'S UPDATED BLOG
I agree the first choice was gorgeous! There used to be a very similar gown on their website, but I don't see it anymore.
The only one remotely similar is this one: Style: #S088615
But if it's the cut of the first gown that didn't suit you, maybe you need a different style.
Going to NY and looking is a great plan. There's so much available there! You'd be surprised about Maggie Sottero though. I found some prices very comparable to Mary's Bridal. They both make great gowns that are budget friendly. My own Maggie gown was under $1,000 excluding alterations. There are also trunk shows for a great sale or even Filene's Running of the Brides.

Re:Re: GINOUE'S UPDATED BLOG
As far as my sister goes, the doctors seem to think that she's responding to chemo fairly well, but her treatment just started, they're optimistic though because they caught it early. I want to thank all my Vibride sisters for their continuing prayers on behalf of my sister.
Ok, I'm going to do my best to update my Diva sisters on what are solid so far for our wedding. This may be a bit long, so kick back relax and bear with me. Thanks.
