Love Theme: Purple & Silver

Our wedding colors are purple & silver. Purple has been my favorite color for like forever so all my friends knew purple would be in my wedding. Of course I was overjoyed when I found out my FH liked purple too(frat thing).

Over time we came up with the LOVE theme and now we are playing it up totally. So we decided on using double hearts on everything from the invitations to napkins, favors, etc( preferably in purple). The reception tables will be named after songs with love in the title and a chart will feature 100 "songs of love". We will come into the reception to a Love song like "It's a love thing" or "Love train"

(haven't decided yet). After we select about 15 of our favorite "love songs" they will be played during dinner. We really had a ball coming up with the 100 songs.

These three remain; faith, hope and love, but the greatest of these is love. Cor

Re: Love Theme: Purple & Silver

Have not picked out the bridesmaid dress just yet, but I'm thinking of a deep purple. David's bridal calls it Lapis or a Royal purple. The wedding will be held at my church in Newport News Va. I've attended here for about 17 years so I really wanted the ceremony to be here versus my Fiance's church. The bonus is there's no fee for members and the sanctuary is large & beautiful.

There will be 5 bridesmaids & groomsmen.About 150 guest limit. Upon researching the facilities here, we discovered that by the time we rent a place, tables, chairs, find a caterer and rent the chair covers, decorations, etc it comes out the same or more then the hotels. So we decided to go with a local hotel since they provide the linens in your colors, chair covers, champagne toast, layout as we like, etc. This will save us the time since we had only 6 months. To save cost we are planning everything ourselves and doing a lot of researching on favors, invites, etc. I'm a creative person so it will look like we spent a lot, but our goal is to stay under 10,000.

Re: Love Theme: Purple & Silver

DSTLady,

Purple is a great choice. The great thing about the latest trends in weddings are that there are no rules...Don't feel limited to one shade. You may pick a shade for the bridal party's attire, but go bold, or soft or both by using many different shades of purple in the flowers or favors. You may even throw in a bold or soft shade of pink, or a bold or soft shade of blue to mix it up. The additional colors give you more leeway when looking for other details with the wedding, and they give more dimension and allow your primary color to stand out!

Happy Planning!

Re: Love Theme: Purple & Silver

The only thing that I could add is not to forget to come up for air every now and then. You are going to have a blast planning your wedding, include your FH in the planning process by giving him his own day. Don't be so wrapped up in planning the wedding that you're neglecting your man. Always have a "no planning day" and that day should only be about just the two of you. I can't wait to see the pictures of the things affiliated with your day.

Happy planning!!!

Re:Re: Love Theme: Purple & Silver

Great Ideas, Thanks. I'm fully aware to not overwhelm the groom. We still have dinner together at least once during the work week (I cook) and go out every sat to our favorite spot. The funny thing is that he went to visit a new venue we heard about and was so excited about it, he called ME during the visit. You would have thought it would be the other way around!
