Gown Bustle

Are any of you getting a bustle added to your gowns. This is supposed to hold the gown up at the reception so it does not drag. The bridal shop is telling me that I need one  and I'm not sure since my train is not that long. Feedbaack!

These three remain; faith, hope and love, but the greatest of these is love. Cor

Re:Gown Bustle

I had a bustle for my gown but didn't use it at all. I just let my dress trail behind me all night or carried it in my hand. Wasn't to much of a hinderance at all and I was having to much fun to worry about the dress.

Re:Re:Gown Bustle

I had a bustle for my chapel train. It did make a difference. If you only have a sweep train, you definitely might not need it.

Bustle

I had one but my MOH and WC botched putting it up. For my first dance I had the train in my hand which was nice for pics, but a complete headache the rest of the reception.  If you don't mind picking it up and holding it the whole night, then save your money! Put your dress on and hold the train for a while and see. Had mine actually worked, it would have been less of a big deal, but its a considerable addition to your alteration costs so definitely weigh the options!

Re:Bustle

Butterbean, I feel you. When it came time to do up my bustle, my mom and the day-of-coordinator had a hard time finding the buttons and little loops underneath to do it. I just said, please do you best to find them 'cause I paid a whole lot of money for this bustle. So, eventually they found them, and I was ready to go in. I don't know why seamstresses don't use like blue buttons and loops underneath so they can be easier to find rather than clear or white...and you'll also have "something blue" underneath.

Oh yeah, some brides also add a loop the the end of the train that they can place over a finger instead of a bustle. This way they can hold up the dress easier.

Re:Re:Re:Bustle

I don't know, although I think it's a personal choice, but it does make things a lot easier to get the bustle, but if you ladies are considering this, be sure to go with your Mum or your WC in order to be shown how to do it properly and efficiently.  It is worth it though, especially if your gown is heavy.  you don't want to carry it all night long.

Re:Bustle

My dress was quite heavy and I didn't use my bustle in the end. I used my 4 hooped petticoat and that seemed to hold it outwards enough so I didn't need the bustle after all.
