Re:FUN birthday Celebrations!
This wasn't a big birthday (I'm 31) but I went to New York for my 30th last year, so that was a big event!

Congratulations!
I spent my 40th at Walt Disney World. The Pirate and Princess Party was ON my birhtday and it wad truly amazing. It was as if the entire park was there just for me. I wore a pirate costume and everything. I stayed there for 5 days. I loved that the staff and talking characters would say happy birthday! Promted by my hubby behind my back.Enjoy your milestones. They only happen once, but the memories last a lifetime.

Re:Birthday parites ideas
If its all adults, do a grown up thing with white candles of different sizes (3 or more/table), and spread candies on the table. I would choose an accent color like silver or gold and stick to accessories and foods in that area.
I did an all-white bridal shower for my SIL when she married my brother. The food was catered by a chef who did a delicious chicken with Asiago cheese casserole....No red punches or tomato based anything! Instead of cake, I made white cake/cup cakes with cream-cheese frosting. I added a few drops of vanilla extract (clear colored as not to darken the frosting color). Clear extracts can be found in the baking section at your local craft store. This is used by professionals to keep frosting white.
The favors and invites were done by hand by myself and I went on a mad hunt (successfully) for candy wrapped in white or silver to put in the bag. It ended up being mints, kisses of diiferent flavors wrapped in silver or white, I have seen chocolate coins in silver foil too.
Your drinks can be champagne or other white wines and clear liquors like Bacardi Limon. White grape juice or light punches/lemonade can be available too.
You should have no problems finding clear plates, utensils, drinking glasses at a party store, or if you go all out, let your caterer provide white china.
For decor you can also use a lot of white (christmas) lights to wrap round any plants in the room and/or do floating white candles in large vases or bowls with those water-proof lights at the bottom.
Of course spring for white chair covers (no sashes needed). Favors can also be a champagne glass with the event's date on it, mini champagne bottles, or clear or white chinese take-out box filled with cake or sweet goodies.
Oh yeah, you can get around the work of putting together favors by supplying an all-white Candy or Dessert Bar Display with huge clear jars filled with white M&M's, White Jelly Beans, Silver or Gold wrapped Hershey's kisses, White chocolate covered pretzels, Mini Cookies with White chocolate chips, Mints, etc.
This is just off the top of my head.....Have fun!
