Ugly Wedding Colors

If you had to choose a color that was an absolute “NO” for a wedding, what would it be? Mine would be a pale peach. So '80s and uninspired. yuck.

Re:Re:Ugly Wedding Colors

Awww..  I actually like that color. haha.
I cringe whenever I see wedding colors consisting of just one primary color and bright white.

In fact, I'm not a fan of bright white in weddings.

Ditto on bright white!

The DST Sorors will be mad at you for the red and white Butter! lol The royal blue and white hurts my eyes! When I see combinations like these I know they just gave up trying to think of a color theme. If the blue was softer it would have been so pretty.

royal blue and yellow

These are my school colors, my university colors, my Rotary colors. I am just so over it! I have seen these colors arranged every which way and still my heart is COLD.

Re:royal blue and yellow

I hate puffy sleeves - Metallic anything wow, that hurts the eyes!!!

The blues below Rosie are actually nice.  I don't know if I would pair them with yellow, but even that is nice.

Re:Ugly Wedding Colors

I would have to say neon colors are a definite "no." I personally don't like the color black for weddings either. Although I know a number of brides use it with much success, especially with formal evening weddings, I didn't want to see it anywhere at our wedding because I see it enough at funerals...and I've attended more funerals than weddings..unfortunately!

I can't think of many colors that I would consider ugly for a wedidng. I think a bride can take colors and with skill mix and match them beautifully. However, I did work a wedding once where the couple selected plain hunter green tablecloths. It really stuck out and I couldn't imagine what would posess them to choose such a color. All the tables looked like pool tables! Yikes! It wasn't even Christmas!

Light colors like peach, lavendar, pink, pale yellow, pale blue, sage are not going to go away when it comes to weddings either. They will always be loved for their softness. However, how they are put together is key.

Red and white are a classic pairing so I don't think those are going away. With some effort, there are ways to make them less boring. I don't care for the royal blue and white either.

What makes me cringe is seeing all the men dressed in stark white suits/tuxedos, white shoes, and colored vests and ties. It reminds me of prom, not my prom though. The guys were better-dressed at my prom.an image

LOL Love that the guys were better dresed at your prom! I am not a fan of a white suit on dark skin. They can make his face bleed out in photos, especially if there is a dark background. I had to include this choice no-no just for you VIPrincess. an image

Well, I've been to a wedding where the colors were turquoise and beige. It was just ghastly.  Bleh!

Welcome back sister VIPrincessBride.  Haven't seen you in a while; though truth be said, I've just returned myself.

Glad that you could pop in from time to time.

OK. I normally think these colors are great and so I went hunting to prove you wrong. Only I discovered that I HATE these colors for a wedding too.

It's all about tonality an hue. A pale blue and the sandy beige would be beautiful or torquoise and ivoryor even a cream shade would have a cool beachy feel. Beige id too dark and heavy.

The whole thing is a little unfortunate when the colors are off. Below are the same colors with the right hue:

Re:Re:Re:Ugly Wedding Colors

Rosie, actually I love to see a dark-skinned man in a white shirt and white pants...the darker the better! I love the contrast! Think Janet Jackson's music video "Love Will Never Do Without You." Djimon Hounsou is SEXY in that (although only in white briefs an image). It's the white suit and white shoes that reminds me of Satuday Night Fever, Fantasy Island, and really bad prom wear all rolled into one!

Yeah, for turquoise and beige, I was also thinking sea and sand. That's the only theme for which I would use those colors. The bottom set of photos with the beach theme is classy, casual, and modern. The top ones look bleh.

Re:Re:Re:Re:Re:Ugly Wedding Colors

Hi Ginoue! How are you lady? I can't wait for you to start dishing details about your wedding. You've probably made some changes. Guess what, chile. I met the star of Gigi, (You know we had discussed that movie before) Ms. Leslie Caron, over the Christmas holidays! I was so surprised to meet her at my aunt's annual Christmas party. She was visiting her brother who lives in St. Thomas and came to the party. I didn't even know she was coming. I'm such an an old movie fan, I was absolutely thrilled! I took a photo with her and got her autograph. She looked good too.

Re:Dijimon and Leslie Carron

Rosie, that's a GORGEOUS photo of Dijimon. When you see a photo like that, you just KNOW we are descended from KINGS.
Ms. Caron was gracious, a very nice lady...and her most famous movie "Gigi" is on tonight on TCM.

Re:Re:Dijimon and Leslie Carron

I loved the movie Gigi! I am so glad she was charming in real life. You know that's not always the case with celebrities. I am so in love with Dijimon. I really am. It's truly disgraceful really. lol

Re:Re:Ugly Wedding Colors

The hunter green bridesmaid dress is so ugly. Not just that ghastly color, but the style and shapelessness of the dress too. Yuck.
