Island or Mainland

I really had my heart set on Curacao for our honeymoon. Suddenly it hit me, how bad did Katrina beat the island? Am I going to go dreaming of beautiful beaches only to wake up and see the "bad part of town"? Who would I contact to check on such things? Or should I just stay in continent and go to Vegas? I have never been. Cities that don't sleep intrigue me. That's why I love NY. Okay ladies, do that magic you do and throw some great ideas my way.

Re: Island or Mainland

I went to Puerto Vallarta on my honeymoon and I could not tell you a thing about it! Pick a place that is pretty and has room service. Curacao is gorgeous and is larger and more cosmopolitan than a few of its neighbors. Hurricane or not it is lovely and there are malls! I was not aware that it was hit at all by Katrina. The caribbean was spared this year!

Re: Island or Mainland

Consider other exotic US islands where there is no passport required:
(Midway Island, Wake Island, Palmyra Island, Howland Island, Johnston Island, Baker Island, Kingman Reef, Jarvis Island, Puerto Rico, St. Thomas, St. John, St. Croix. American Samoa and more.
