Re: desparately needing help

Welcome to Vibride, sweetie! Now take a deep breath and don't raise your blood pressure. Congratulations on your wedding. I'm also having 2 ceremonies (one in CA and one in Zim --God willing--) so i understand your panic.

Colors: If you want burgundy or purple to symbolize love why don't try just one contrasting color like pale pink for the burgundy or cream for the purple.

Wedding Party: 5 on each side sounds good. Just remember to include your respective siblings and trade out people who might be able to do either ceremony.

Food: Hors d'ouvres sound really good or maybe a buffet since it sounds like you don't want a full sit down meal. Depends on the time of day of the ceremony.

Flowers: If i remember correctly, it will be mid-summer in SA in December so think of vibrant, local blooms that will compliment your color scheme.

Guest Attire: It's entirely up to you and will largely be based on what time of day, how you and FH (Future Husband) decide to dress, and the way you phrase the invitation.

Planning: Do you have a few close friends or family that you might be able to trust with certain tasks or even an acquaintance/co-worker who is very organized and too removed to get caught up in the drama that can help you . . .

Ok that's my 2 cents to start and don't worry we'll help you! Isn't that right ladies?

Re: desparately needing help

Welcome Kaholgah. Mixing burgundy and purple together sounds nice, very regal, but there is also the opportunity to take these colors and create something very modern and fun. What type of feeling are you trying to create for your day? Light & airy, bold & modern, traditional, fun & unique? Let us know what type of overall mood you are looking to create so we can better help you. Did you pic your dress yet and if so, can you post a pic of it? It's the brides dress that sets the tone of the event.

Re: desparately needing help

First and foremost, congrats on your upcoming wedding and welcome to our sisterhood. Relax,my sister. We will help you create the weddings of your dream. I have a feeling that with the help of your family and friends, you have your first ceremony well under way. I'm sure they'll help you plan it.

As for the one here in the states, we'll all help you. First and foremost, where will you be getting married in the US? Which state? I'm also getting married in July, 09 and will be more than happy to help you plan your wedding as I'm going through the same process. I will remind you of what to do when. Are you very crafty? Here, we do a lot of things ourselves. We call it our DIY projects in order to save as much money as we can. I think "Love" is a wonderful theme. Let's me see what I can suggest to you to help you along. How about Burgunday and light pink? I think Musikana suggested as much.

How about flowers Ms Kaholgah?

Hope those pictures help you some. As your wedding is not until July, 2009 you could relax and plan your south african wedding. I will let you know from time to time, what you should be concentrating on to make your American Wedding a spectacular event. Trust me sister, don't leave the details of your wedding up to your FH. He means well, but, he won't always get the vision that you're trying for.

Happy planning and let me know how I could be of further assistance.

Re: desparately needing help

Kaholgah, as far as the second picture of the reception hall is concerned, you just need to find skirts for the chairs that are more of a blush color ( a very, very light pink). Also, the tablecloths could be light pink, with a burgundy table runner and the napkins could be burgundy as well. It will work perfectly.

I'm glad you are crafty. We'll be making a lot of projects together. I'm also in Maryland, but we have another vibride sister who lives in Baltimore as well as you. Maybe she'll be able to suggest places there over looking the water.

Hey Diva T? What do you say? Some help for our newbie sister? You're awesome!!!

In the meantime, Kaholgah, how about working on your monograms? You could use Microsoft Publisher. You have a lot of time and as long as you've got it completed by the end of May, 08 you'll be right on schedule. Just play around with a few things and see what you come up with. You'll be needing your monograms a lot. Try making them 1 1/2" x 1". You don't want them too big. So, that's your first project. I've already done mine. Have fun!!!

For Bridesmaids dresses ~ how about light pink with burgundy bouquets?

Those gowns are by Alfred Angelo

You mentioned that you liked the last gown, well here it is in Wine. It's as close to burgundy as you'll get in this gown. Here's what it looks like.

What do you think?
How's the posting going for you? I've included instructions in my note.

As far as the bouquets for the Bridesmaids are concerned, I would have to say that a mixture of light pink and burgundy roses with some green foliage would be nice and compliments your burgundy of the BM gowns very well.

Hello there Diva Turiya, our newbie sister is looking for a romantic backdrop for her wedding. She lives in Baltimore, MD and was looking for a waterfront something ( a lake, the beach, a waterfront property) to give her that romantic backdrop and since you live in Baltimore, I was wondering if you could advise her as to where she should concentrate her search.

Thanks a million Diva!!!

Congratulations and welcome to the site Kaholgah! Your gown is going to be absolutely beautiful! And I think burgundy and pale pink will work very nicely together as well.

Kahlogah your dress is beautiful and very elegant. In order to create a fun feel for the day, I would chose bouquets and centerpieces that are "wild" and whimsical in shape, sort of like the first bouquet of callilillies posted by Ginoue. I believe anything arranged losely would help to create a fun feeling for your day.
