Thanks sensationablyhappy!

Here is the look I want for the alter:

I don't think I'll have the florals at the top though unless they're silk. I also want four columns instead of two like this set-up:

Calling all decorators! How would the set-up look with red satin draping with gold shimmer tulle in the background? Not sure if I will get the uplights like the 1st picture of the "Christmas" lights like the second.

Re: KeepUp's Blog

I think your setup idea for the red satin and gold in the background with the uplights would be pretty. I like the four column design, it's quite unique for an altar arrangement. I also like the floral arrangement on the top of the two center columns, I think it adds to the look tremendously. But, it is about your personal preference. Either way, do you think you'd have floral arrangements on those two outer columns?

Re: KeepUp's Blog

Thanks keithsbride!

I think I will do the floral arrangement just over the center columns as pictured. I saw another picture online without the florals and it didn't have the same effect. I will use silks though. May start working on that this weekend. The smaller, outer coulumns will not have florals. They will be lighted though. All the columns will be totally covered in fabric also like the top picture.

I'm loving the look Mrs. Keepup!!! and the colors that you've chosen would look magnificent.

I was thinking of doing something like the picture you've chosen for the backdrop of my head table at the reception. I had the same thing in mind and no matter how I tried to design it. I could never really envision it properly. Thank you for placing a picture that matches those in my mind.

You Diva, are awesome!!!

Sorry for the late response regarding the bow. I was thinking a pull bow something like this:

Re: KeepUp's Blog

The altar look you plan to create is gorgeous. I can't wait to see pics of how it turns out. The flowergirl baskets are cute and the shoes are very nice. I would probably go with satin for a more formal look but if you're looking to get more "mileage" out of them by wearing them again, then go with the gold.

Hey Future ...I haven't been around lately, but I'm loving your ideas and colors, the broom is nice ...and I DO agree a bow will make it pop! I love both dresses for the Matron and MOH ...and also I like the dress that's NOT from Burlington better, so if we don't find it, don't sweat it :). The shoes are cute and like Pam said it looks like you can get more mileage out of those ...in satin those, it'll look better with the gown.

All the best ...keep us posted.

Re: KeepUp's Blog

My blog brought Turiya out of hiding! Yay! What's up T?

Thanks for all the compliments ladies! Here's the latest update:
1. I received the enclosures and envelopes for my invitations today. I'll be picking up the actual invite from the printer this weekend and the assembly will begin. Not looking forward to it though!
2. I spoke with my tailor and will be meeting him next week for my first fitting so I will have updated pictures of me the my gown (no camera phone this time Pam)!
3. I'm waiting on a quote from a photographer. Thanks to Diva Turiya I have the possibility of getting a photographer for the entire day (from 8 am until the end of the reception), a CD with all my pictures, and an album for $650! This includes his flight from Baltimore! Keep me in your prayers that it works out. I can't beat that deal!
4. If the deal with the photog works out I can begin looking for a videographer which I REALLY want to have. I think I want video more than photos.
5. I finished decorating the RB chest - will post picture this weekend.

I think that's it for now. Thanks for all the support ladies!

Ok ladies, small snafu - the printer didn't have the font file for my invitations so they didn't print correctly. She's redoing them next week. Here is the mock-up with the ones she did. The only thing that is different on the correct ones is the font on the monogram tag and the font for our names.

Thanks Teresa.

I ordered my daughter's dress:

I'm thinking of getting this one for my niece:

What do you ladies think? FI, our daughter, son, and I will be in ivory and champagne so I figured with this dress my niece can still be coordinated with my daughter since they are both FGs. My Jr. BM is wearing the same dress as the BMs above but with straps.

I officially have a photographer! I still can't belive it is costing me less to fly someone in from Maryland, getting all that I'm getting, than the photographers in Chicago!

For $650 I am receiving:
1. A photographer for the ENTIRE day (from the time the flight arrives at 7:35am until the end of the reception)!
2. Unlimited pictures
3. ALL pictures on CD with reproduction rights
4. A 12x12 digital hardcover album with 20 pages (40 sides)

Thanks go to MRS Diva Turiya. I owe you BIG! (Don't wait too long to cash it in! LOL!)

What a blessing!! God is soo good.

Your invitations came out really nice. I do have a question for you though: what does the initials "T" and "N" on the flower girl baskets stand for? Is that the initials of the flower girls?

Re: KeepUp's Blog

Aren't I blessed? :D

Yes Pam, the N and T are my daughter and niece's initials. They are both VERY territorial!

My aunt has offered to do my favors for the spectacular price of FREE.99! She's putting peppermints in round glass bowls wrapped with a tulle circle, closed with a red ribbon and gold rings. Nice and simple and FREE! I'm still doing a candy/cookie buffet as well.

Since I'm having a "cocktail" reception, my mom is making the food and the same aunt from abve is making the some meat, vegatable, and fruit trays. Well mom just informed me she's covering the cost of all the food as well!

Now I need help with a menu.My mom will be sending me her ideas this week but I want more ideas as well. What do you think ladies? I'm having basically finger foods but don't want it to scream Super Bowl party! LOL!

Even though you don't want it to scream super bowl you should still do the little chicken wingettes and some mini meatballs. I need to think some more but those I think would be definite must haves.

I agree, I think wingettes are a go ...

wings: buffalo, bar-b-que, honey mustard, teriyaki, and fried.
salads: garden, caesar, potatoe, pasta, chicken
veggie trays w/dips
plenty of fruit
lunch meat rolls

Light and airy foods for the summer, I think would be good.

Re: KeepUp's Blog

LOL! Yeah pretty much. Plus since this is one of the "older" designs it was less per slice than the smooth-style "newer" designs. So I took off all the 80s stuff -fountains, columns, stairs, figurines, etc (no offense to anyone else but its not my style) - and made it what I wanted it to be!

For the three tiers it was $223. As is it was $475! So by removing a tier and getting rid of the "fluff" I saved 250 bucks! I'm thinking about adding back the fourth tier but it'll be fake.

Re: KeepUp's Blog

Thanks ladies! I figured that would surprise him, he's probably expecting white lacey things or something!

Sensationably to make the kissing ball:
Materials
5 or 6-inch foam ball
Silk flowers
Ribbon
glue gun
floral wire

1. Cut a piece of ribbon to the desired length for the loop.
2. Stick a piece of floral wire through each end of the ribbon and stick it in the ball. (bend the wire into a U shape)
3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 at the other end of the ball but without the loop.
4. Reinforce the ribbon one each end with a glue gun making sure to cover the floral wire.
5. Now stick the silk flowers into the ball until it is fully covered.

Hope that made sense. It was a really easiy project. I have sense added clear iridescent balls to it as well.

Re: KeepUp's Blog

You can get a styrofoam ball and floral wire at any craft store like AC Moore, Michaels, Joanns, or Hobby Lobby.

For step 2 bend the wire like this:
----

Stick it through one end of the ribbon and then the other so you make your loop. Basically you should be able to hold the ribbon by the loop with the wire hanging at the bottom like the ball will be. Then just stick the wire into the ball.
