Wedding Day Coordinator

Hello I don't know of a wedding coordinator but wanted to say congrats. I'm here in the Atlanta area and I'm wedding is plan for April 2006. I'm still in search of reception sites. Do you have any ideas?

Brownskin...welcome to the site...question!...do you really need a coordinator for your reception?, It is obvious that you have done most of what the coordinator should have done (legwork) so what you should really focus on is someone to MC the reception. You can plan the sequence of events which would be printed on the programs and the MC takes is from there, eg. Entrance of Parents, Bridal Party and Bride and Groom and then they would introduce each person in the party and then they would just follow the program. I know that is how weddings are done over here, you do not pay any money especially if you have a friend thats good with people and know you and your husband well, this will save you a lot of money that you would be paying a coordinator. Just a thought!

Hi Brownskin,I agree with Charlotte.Do you really think a coordinator is necessary?You might want to try asking friends or family members to help with some of the details.This way, you save money and I'm sure your friends and family would love to help.God Bless!

I would suggest speaking with the wedding consultant or event planner at the hotel If you have made clear the order that things are supposed to happen (waiters, service, tables moved etc.) then that can fall in his arena. Familial issues or placement of people can definitely be handled by someone at church, or work. I'm sure it will work out!

BrownskinChick I agree that you probably don't need a wedding coordinator. Do you have a trusted friend that could step up to the plate for you. That's what I'm doing. I can't really afford a wedding coordinator, so I have asked a good friend of mine to fill in as a "wedding coordinator" and she happily accepted. Seeeeee! we all agreed, you do not need a coordinator, girl you can save that money towards you new future with your husband. Find a friend that is not afraid of crowds and would love the honors of hosting. Blessings and Good luck honey.

Hello Brownskinchick! I wish I were in Atlanta. I have recently started my own business doing just that-Wedding Day Coordinator. I have been planning family & friend's parties for years. It was suggested by many that I go into business myself. Additionally I am in grad school for meeting/event planning. I had a similar wedding and WISHED I had hired a wedding day coordinator. Unlike the others, I think you should hire one. They are different than Wedding Planners. A reputable one should be cheaper than a Planner as well. You will feel much better having a professional handle the details instead of having family or friends do it. A family or friend may end up missing the wedding itself or miss very important details regarding the plans. You want things to be stress free and know that it will be handled by a professional. Since I just started, I am only charging $250. There are some in my area (Chicago) who are charging $500. Your wedding date just missed the date that I will be there visiting my parents. I agree. Wedding planners csn SAVE you so much more money and headache. It is worth looking into.

And there is someone who posted above me that stated she was a planner as well so what is the difference? I didn't mean any harm but I can see that this is not a welcoming place to be......

No difference, she was trolling too. It's not that you aren't welcome, if you are here to help the brides on this forum, you're more than welcome. It's just very stange that you only psted 2 messages, 1 of which was your ad! I am the last to shoot down any one trying to build their biz, but IMO, you should test the waters before diving in. If you had read some of the previous post you would have known better.

I am sorry for all the confusion this has caused. I will defend myself by saying that the person who posted that she was a wedding planner was not publicly attacked for "trolling" like I was....not sure why and I think it was unfair. Rosetta, I will give you a call to determine how I can advertise on the site. I will not utilize this forum anymore as a bride (yes wedding consultants do get married).....don't feel welcomed. If you notice, you would see that the alleged "Wedding Planner" did not boldly advertise where she could be found, she only stated how much she charged, you audaciously posted your curriuclum vitae...that's the difference right there!

And in defense of this site - as a "Queen" I have been her just under a year and there is nothing but love here...hell we are family here, yes we have our ups and downs like any family but we work them out.

jrmcdoug is an actual bona fide bride geeting married in STX. She called the office and everything. She didn't know the rules when she posted her info. Very classy thing to do. We all make mistakes but we can all learn from them too.

There are a few people who would take advantage but the brides on this site are very genuine about passing on info and sharing ideas. EVERYONE willing to do that is welcome. If you are here simply to further your own personal agenda you will be found out.

Please be kind to each other. We have enough love for each other and as charley said give her a chance.
