You blew me out the water! I dont know if I should even post mine after seeing yours....lol...........My budget is around $3000 but I'm trying to push for $6000.You're like 10 times my budget.I wish I could rock it like that gyrl.........I know your wedding will be fierce (as Tyra says).
We didn't start out with a budget and still haven't set one - but it looks like we'll be spending $25K+. Me and FH are paying for our wedding ourselves.
We didn't set one either, we just start spending. It looks like we will be spending around $25,000, including the honeymoon. FH and I are paying 90% of it ourselves, but we are receiving ALOT of help from my mother.................his family, well that's a whole other thread!
*If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything*
Wow.(Wiping my forehead)There are some really big number here.I'm like Alvinslove, my budget will be about $5000.Platinumstyle is a serious bargain hunter but I'll still have a Platinumstyle wedding.
We had originally set a budget of $5,000. After FH and I considered everything, we will be actually spending around $12,000. FH didn't realize that weddings can be expensive. We have been saving our money for the past year so that it won't be a hardship on us. We are also paying for everything ourselves.

Hi Ladies, my budget is $10k. I started out thinking that it would be alot less. Diamond you are doing it big. I know that you only get married once but always remember you have to live after the wedding. I have found alot of bargains and have been able to cut corners by having my coordinator make all of my flowers(silk) and do my invitations. I even found fall foliage for my reception tables at Family Dollar and Dollar Tree. At least I'll know when it's all over I won't owe anyone.
That's right, I will not owe anyone either. I don't want to go in debt having the wedding of my dreams. Thanks to this site, I have learned so many wonderful money-saving ideas.

My budget is low because like many FH's my FH doesnt realize how much detailing goes into a wedding. We havent added our honeymoon, rings or even a photographer. The budget we set is just for the dress and accesories, churchrental, decoration and flowers, and invitations. Mt FH has alot more to think about. We have already began saving but I want to wait until I get all of our "budget" money to start buying things.Since we will be paying for everything ourselves we do not plan on going in debt either thats why I want to save the money up front and just pay out of there rather than with a credit card or waiting for next weeks pay....ect
You guys we have another CALIFORNIA bride.....Diamond gyrl I dont feel so alone anymore...Gyrl I live in Fontana, California so you live about 1 1/2-2 hours away from me.
Our honeymoon, rings, wedding dress, tux, mother-of-the bride dress (my gift to my mom), decorations and misc. items were not included in our $5,000 total. We have saved about $6,000 and I have been buying things since last October.
Delight yourself in The Lord & He will give you the desires of your heart!Ps 37
Rhonda gyrl it seems like I will be on the same path too. I havent even began to budget for gifts.I need the grooms gift, bridesmaids and groomsmen gifts, something special for my MOH and BM, our parents....and so on.When I do start shopping around FH wont know what hit him......I just wont tell him how much the real total was until after we come back from our honeymoon.....
Allies when FH and I first started talking about planning FH and I thought that $5,000 was a good figure. We decided to save a little more just in case something unexpected comes up. I have been using my own money to purchase all of the other misc. things. I have bought my aisle runner, gifts for bridal party, gifts for family, FG basket, RB pillow, programs, cake servers, gifts for guests, cameras for the tables, guest books, flume pens, wedding certificate, and just had my wedding dress ordered. Girl it seems like I still have so much to do. I have about six months to go. I am so grateful that I started planning early because if I didn't, I would be going crazy now.
Delight yourself in The Lord & He will give you the desires of your heart!Ps 37
Planning a wedding seems like nothing but when you get down to it there is so much to do. OMG I never thought it would be so hard and stressful to get married. I guess thats why people elope huh.....I must say with all the hard work I put into this wedding I know it will be perfect (it better be) because I planned ahead I should have everything in order come MARCH 24,2007. I am so glad that I started planning over a year in advance becasue I dont think I could do it in a short amount of time. Its too much work and money out of my pocket to just throw anything together for my big day!
I know that's right AllieS. It won't be long gurl. March '07 will be here before you know it. You will be glad that you did start planning early. My FH thought I was crazy when I first started planning. His thing was 'what's the rush?'. Now he sees that there are a lot of details that go into planning our big day. He still has no idea how much has gone into this wedding. I don't tell him everything. I have learned that is not a wise thing to do.

Ladies I'm so thankful for you all because I didn't include the ring costs, the things that I have purchased in the budget that I quoted earlier. I'm still stuck on gifts for the bridal party.Your ideas are welcome. I purchased their jewelry(3 pc pearl set) but that's it. I've been looking on ebay for the FG baskets, RB pillow, broom, my shoes, rental costs for ceremony items, etc. Ok, I'm overwhelmed!!!!! October 7th will be here before I know it!

Yes Diamond I know how expensive everything is here in Cali. I've been blown away by some of the prices I saw for my wedding needs thats why I opt to buy online too. I will just have to bargin hunt with the best of them. Maybe you and I can go shopping together later .........
Rhonda I know what you mean about not telling FH about everything.I made the mistake of doing that when I first started planning but I've learned. Now I do most of my planning at work when my kids are napping or when FH isnt home. He would totally freak out about some of the prices I've got for the stuff I want.
Hi I can't even decide on a budget...but we have a while...any suggestions on setting it? I have to be realistic: I can't imagine spending more than 10,000. And we haven't started saving...yet.
I haven't been given a budget by my parents. Since I'm their firstborn they're pretty much giving me carte blanche for what I want. HOWEVER, I'm not going to go overboard. My parents live in L.A., Cali where I was raised. I live in Dallas, TX but the wedding will take place in Louisiana. So I don't even want to know how much they're spending. They've hired a full service coordinator to take care of everything with our final approval of vendors, menu, etc. So I'll keep you all posted.
Because I am having a vow renewal and not an actual first-time wedding, I am trying to cap the budget at $5,000, but I have a feeling we may have to go a bit over that still -- and hubby is NOT trying hear that!! lol
My budget is around 5,000 but the way things are looking we may end up spending about 8,000. I have beeen buying things a little at a time to cut cost. So if anyone comes across any bargains please post them. Me and my FH are paying for the majority of our wedding as well. He was clueless about the cost of things until he went shopping with me one Saturday. Thank God I had 30% off coupons. He saw how much money I saved. I am the bargain queen. I hate paying full price for anything.

Welcome to the boards Bumblebeekee. When are you getting married. Do you have an idea of the wedding/reception sites? Are you having an informal or formal ceremony? Will you have help in paying for your wedding or will you be doing it all on your own? These are some of the questions that you will need to answer before you can decide on a realistic wedding budget. I was cluesless when I set my original budget and ended up going over because I didn't realize everything that a wedding entails. Thanks to the things that I have learned on this site, I will be able to have the wedding of my dreams without ending up in bankruptcy court. (LOL). Also, please keep in mind that planning early is key. Good luck.

Yes it is. I'm very grateful to my parents. However I am not going to be stupid. I know that my parents have had to rent the entire hotel for me to have the ceremony there. It's only 48 rooms and 4 suites. The owne did not want other potential guests to be disturbed by the wedding festivites and since the cermony is being held outside it would have prevented the other guests from enjoying the hotel amenities. But I was told that they did receive a discount for that and they won't be responsible for everyone's rooms. But other than that I don't forsee any other outlandish requests.
[quote="CharlotteModebe"]Whatever it is let's be realistic.........$60,000.00 yeah right!!!!

I don't think it's unrealistic if that's what they are willing to spend for what they want. I only think it's unrealistic if you know you can't afford it and go into severe debt.
[quote="SeptBride"]YOur parents had to pay for all of the hotel rooms in the hotel in order for you to have it there? If so, God bless your parents. lol

Yes they did. It's a small boutique hotel but those were the conditions if I wanted the ceremony held there. It's really not a big problem considering most of my guests are from out of town and that way we'll all be together and I can keep track of eevryone.
It's gonna be a party over at Iysias'! I have a question, don't mean to sound clueless, but what is a small boutique hotel? I've never heard of the term before. Is it similar to a bed & breakfast?

They don't have banquet rooms or anything here. Their website is http://www.parcengland.com if you'd like to check it out. I wish I could invite everyone I knew. My mother has even invited my Kindergarten teacher!
Iysias, I just visited the website. It is beautiful. The rooms are stunning. What I like most is that it seems like such a warm and cozy environment. Perfect for a wedding celebration with family, friends and lovedones. And I just learned something new. Thank you.

Hi Bumblebee..welcome to the site. As far as the wedsding budget goes you have to think about who is paying for it and how much help you will get from others. Then think about the type of wedding you want to have. If you know you cant spend over $10,000 then let that be your budget. Start planning things now because time can pass by really fast. I've only been engaged since september and I can tell you the time has passed so fast. Now I only have about 9 months to go. The sistahoo here are great at bargin hunting and coming up with things for your wedding. Just feel free to ask questions and you wil get a response soon. Good luck and happy planning. By the way, what is your wedding date?
My wedding date is not until May 3, 2008. We got engaged a month ago. My FH and I have started saving $ now, and we know we want to have it in Orlando-we both live in Tallahassee, FL. We met here when we were going to school. He works here, and I am in grad school. I have been looking around, looking into venues, I even tried on some dresses already after being badgered by a friend. The only think is, because its so early, I can't get my FH on board (I just got him to agree to save-but that was easy)...he can't even think of a budget at this point in time.....Anyways....you know we women are movers and shakers, and I'm a voracious planner....but at this point in time its just me....its okay for now because we have like 22 months....
Hey Bumblebeekee, love the Avatar! I just wanted to tell you that you are not along when it comes to fiance's "not coming on board". In the beginning, my fiance did not give to much input. He even seemed annoyed. But as time went on (and I'm sure it will be that way for your fiance as well), he came around. You have a little less than two years to plan the wedding of your dreams. The good part about it is you have time on your side. However, you will need to set a budget so that you and fiance can start saving. Trust me time flies!

She's going overboard. I initially anticpated 175 guests tops but we're up to 300 and I swear EVERYDAY that she thinks of someone new.
Iysias, I just visited the website. It is beautiful. The rooms are stunning. What I like most is that it seems like such a warm and cozy environment. Perfect for a wedding celebration with family, friends and lovedones. And I just learned something new. Thank you.

Mom probably feels that there is nothing too good for her little girl! When my daughter is old enough to marry I will probably be doing exactly what your Mom is doing! LOL!!!

We've been Happily Married 2 Years and Counting:)
