I've been talking to Rhonda about excercising lately and thought I would post some information here. How many of us are exercising like we should? Are you too busy and can never find the time? You cant find a workout fit for you and your needs? you cant afford a gym membership? well I can share with my sistahs what I found online and have been doing for the past month. We all know we need to exercise but we always find a reason not to now you wont have a reason. These How-To Exercises will get you right on track.They are easy and it tells you step by step what to do.You can choose what area of the body you want to tone and work your way through all of them. I have been doing a few of these exercises 3 times a week for the last month and I like what I feel...results. You dont really need much, just a few dumbbell weights,a mat/towel,a chair and if you are like me a good CD. I exercise to 3 songs and if you are carried away you wont even notice how much you are doing but you definately will feel it. I got some weights at walmart and they were very cheap.I got 2 3lb weight for $1.50 each and 2 5lb weights for $2.30 each so for about $9 I got 2 sets of weight I can use that arent very heavy and I dont have to struggle with them or strain myself. As I get more strength I can get bigger weights.
Ok I feel like I'm rambling like a telemarketer so I will stop. There is also a Bridal body workout posted in "colon cleanse" if you want to check that out too.

you're welcome Rhonda. If I can help in anyways I will. I know we are al in a rut to get into exercising but we can get out of it.....If I can then just about anybody can and I hope we all do.
You know I'm going to try and exercise more. It is my intention to tone myself up a little. I need to get some small hand weights and tone my arms up a little. My dress is strapless and I want to feel pretty and well as look pretty.

Thats just the resaon I started. I'm little but I'm thick and it shows in my arms. I saw a picture of myself with a sleevless shirt on and I didnt like it.That same day I started looking for exercises fort he arms. I got the hand weights/ dumbells at Walmart for like $9 for a set of 3 pound weights and 5 pound weight. When I get comfortable with those I will get heavier ones. I'm not trying to be a body builder or anything I just want to tone what I have. My goal is to change the fat into muscle, or is to loose fat and gain muscle...one of those....lol

I power walk every evening (when I get off work) for about 30-60 mins. I'm starting to develop a pudge :-( I'm not working out like I should though. I need a high-intensity program or a kick-butt ab workout DVD.

Thanks for sharing Allies. I will definately try this out. How much weight did you lose in a month's time?
One thing to remember girls is to definitely challenge yourself...and don't wait until you "feel like it" to exercise, like I did sometimes....If I know I will have about 30 minutes to spare, I pull out my exercise DVD and squeeze it in....Even if I don't finish the DVD, at least I got some high intensity work-out in my day....and on days you know you won't be exercising, eat lighter to balance your calorie intake...Don't worry about some extra calories here and there from eating an extra cookie here and there, just work out harder in the next time you do exercise....and remember to make it fun....take your favorite upbeat CD and dance like crazy until you feel sweaty....do that for 30 minutes and you can burn like 200-250 calories.....:)

I'm not sure how much weight I've lost becasue I hate scales but I can tell you that I am getting more solid and things are toning very well. I can see themuscle in my arms when I didnt see it there before. Iknow the leg exerercises work because my legs are sore...lol
Even though I have a slender build,I intend to exercise.I don't exercise much because I'm an over-the-road truck driver.You Ladies have motivated me to start back.But,I'm going to start exercising again because I'm trying to GAIN weight.As I gain,I want to tone up.
I used to do leg exercises with 5lb ankle weights,sit ups and crunches,and work on my arms with 10lb weights.Also,at home in my spare time,I used to work out with Billy Blanks Tae Bo DVD.

I used to do Tae Bo in my dance classes in high school and I even ordered a few myself I just havent used them in over 2 years. After I get the energy to do a power workout then I will start back on that .I am also thinking about doing the Yoga Booty Ballet workout with my SIL. She supposed to order the videos soon so we can get started.
I've heard of that workout but I don't know anyone who's tried it.Let us know how it is.

I will. From the informercials Iwatched its a lot of dancing and ballet moves that you are doing. It seems really fun and I cant wait to start.
No matter what you do, just ensure the exercise you chose is comfortable for you and only you...those poeple on Tv are professionals.

If anyone is looking to lose weight and gain muscle I have TONS of resources. Maybe we can make it an extension of Vibride and support each other here as we go through our physical transformations. It is always easier to workout and stay motivated when you have a support system. There is a free website called sparkpeople.com. It will take all of the information your put into the system (how much you presently weigh, what your goal weight is, what timeframe, what your diet is, any injuries you have at the present time) and it will provde you with a diet plan based on what you do/don't eat, a workout based on what injuries you've specified you have (if none then of course skies the limit)... you follow up with your progress on the website and as you become more fit the workout plans & meal plan changes so you don't become stuck in one routine and to shock your system into something different. I hope you find that it helps.

ha ha ha... i wanted something different. I had a pic of myself but for some reason it stopped showing. Then I put the dancing kitty and a bunch of other people had the dancing kitty, so I took my avatar that I use on the okayplayer.com message boards because i knew no one else would be using it. I had a need to feel different and special.

I am barely overweight 5lbs but I want to lose 15 pounds. I want my stomach which is small to be tiny in my wedding dress. My only fear is that with my big day 22 months away. I will lose the weight and then regain it. Help

CONSISTENCY BABYGIRL.... it is all about consistency. If you feel comfortable you can post or send me a note with your height, weight, what foods you DON'T eat, your favorite foods, your weaknesses - mine is anything chocolate and all flavors of cheesecake, where you tend to store the most weight, how much soda do you consume, how much salt? Any health issues that you present have (diabetes, high blood pressure, bad knee). What things you love (i love dancing & the elliptical trainer) what things you hate (I HATE running). And I will try to get you started on a something to not only help you get to where you wanna be but maintain it as well. You just have to be consistent. I can give you the tools but it is up to you to use them.

Thank you. I am 5'7" and I weigh 163. I want to be 145. I have a gym membership and I like to do the elliptical machine and the bike. I try to get in three hours a week. I just graduated from school but I love to walk hate to run. I like to eat but I avoid transfat and margarine. I hate mayo, cheap fatty cuts of meat and chicken skin. I am starting my diet tomorrow cuz I wanna be in shape for my engagement party. No health problems. Thanks again.

Now that's what I am talking about. I just can't seem to get myself motivated. I am just overwhelmed with my bridal party dragging their feet, rb & fg isssues (thank God I know have a RB & FG). I just hope I can get things finalized so that I can take care of myself.

MsLee, you're right.Consistency is the key.If you're worried about your calorie intake,try checking out diabetic cookbooks.They have many low cal recipies.If you have a weakenss for sweets,try using "Splenda" or "Equal" in the place of sugar when making cookies,cakes,and pies.
