Do I HAVE to wear make-up?

Ok ladies, I met with the woman who is doing my make-up and we did a trial run. I can't decide if I liked it or not. I am really not a make up kind of girl. When I go out, I wear eye-liner, mascara, and lipstick, thats it. This woman had foundation, blush, powder, eyeshadow, and all kinds of stuff on me.

It didn't look bad, it just wasn't me. She told me that I should wear it for the sake of pictures, but I just don't know.

How do you ladies think it would look if I just wear eye-liner, mascara, lipstick, and even some eye shadow, and do away with all the other stuff? I don't mean to toot my own horn, but I am a naturally pretty girl, and I don't feel like I need all that extra stuff, but, I don't want to look dull in my pictures either. What do you all think?

B2B I am with you! I am not a make-up kind of gal either. If you don't want to do foundation, concealer and what ever else they do, then I think that will be fine. A little mascara, eyeliner, and lipstick will definitely do the trick. Perhaps you could suggest to your make-up artist that you are more comfortable with just those items and let her re-do it for you.

B2B,all makeup artists are different.Maybe you should try having someone else to do to give you a trial run.Sometimes,we women have very good skin and just need a little to accent our features. Meaning, less is more when it comes to makeup.Other women want a more dramatic appearance so they prefer more.Just don't keep it in excess like my FH's SIL.She looks like she's wearing war paint!

B2b, I understand. I usually only wear lip gloss, eyeliner and a little lip liner. And that isn't on an everyday basis. I think you should do what will make you most comfortable on your day! That's the last thing you want - to feel unfomfortable on your BIG DAY! However, I have worn foundation before and I couldn't tell that I had it on. Meaning I didn't feel it on my face but when I looked at myself in the mirror I could tell a difference. It wasn't a HUGE difference, but I liked it.

Girl go to the MAC counter or call an Mary Kay consultant to do a trial run make-up look. You definitely need enough to show up in pics but you don't want to look painted. I did my friend's make-up for her wedding and I used light pinks and gold eyeshadow, no eyeliner and a lipstick that showed up just enough to be noticable. She had flawless skin so we nixed the foundation and used a light bronzing powder.....her very conservative family was so impressed.
Check this out: go to the Mary Kay website look for the "bridal" link and then "storybook looks" and you will notice: how subtle the makeup is, and that they used browns and neutral tones around the eyes and lips and cheeks (the black women, but check out the white women too).....then check out the virtual makeover link, chose the model closest to your skin tone, and click on any color for any part of the face....you can easily find an MK consultant to get the colors you need, or I can help you.....or you can easily match similar colors in from any drugstore, or mall, and practice applying it until you find a look and combination you like.....This season's trend in bridal make-up is pinks, golds, bronzes, and neutrals....for the bold girls, subtely match your eyeshadow color to your dress: baby blues, ice greens, bolder pinks.....have fun!

The first 3 looks uses a lot of makeup but you would never know looking at their faces! You don't have to use it all!

In the last link...you all can pick a face at the bottom closest to yours and then make up their face.
They use a lot of different colors to come up with a look, but of course you don't need to use all that, just one color around the eyes will do...

Have fun! And don't forget to click on the application tips link!

Re: Do I HAVE to wear make-up?

I'm wrestling with this issue as well. No one in my bridal party (nor my mother) wants to have makeup done. So I'll be the only one if I choose to. I had a Fashion Fair trial done & it came out great...I guess it depends on how much the makeup artist is going to charge me.

I'm a married woman as of December 2, 2006.

Honestly I am a big advocate for women learning make-up and trying it for themselves....if you feel your make-up artist is going to be worth the $, then by all means go for it...if you feel its expensive, then know you have options....It can be done with a little time and patience, and practice...if you have these things...

Future reference: Girls, When you do the trial run, you can get the information on the colors the make-up artist used and either purchase them from the counter, or go to the drugstore and try to match them up! Then, practice with some friends and have fun! If you have a digital cameral, take pics of yourself and load them on the computer, then you'll see just how much the make-up shows up, so so can see if you need to reduce or add!
I have seen too many brides who look like made-up clowns (sorry to say) because the artist went overboard! They try to tell you that enhancing it will make it show up in the pics...and oh boy it does, especially if the colors contrast too much!

i am not a big makeup fan. I don't know which way I will go either.
