I am considering having ceremony on Sunday now (I actually always wanted to) and noticed that you are getting married on a Sunday. I was just curious to know how it's working for you. I know it's cheaper but was just wondering with so many people going to church, what's a good time (cause you know how our people are when church is over...ready to eat), when would you decorate, etc...

Re: MsBoston

For myself and for any considering a wedding on a Sunday I would suggest a later in the day ceramony. Mine is at 3pm.
I can tell you that I have been more that happy with the savings that I have gotten by having a Sunday date (+/- 2G's savings on the ceramony site vs. a Sat!)
The photographer was available, the florist was available, the coordinator was available. The decorating can be done that saturday, but we are guaranteed 3 hours before the ceramony to decorate(enter coordinator and good friend)

I would suggest a Sunday date for anyone who is planning a wedding at the last minute (

WOW Ms Boston what a great idea! COngrats on your HUGE savings! I like to see people taking advantages of the opportunity to save money, and doing something unique in these days, which is to marry on God's Holy Day.

Re: MsBoston

Thanks MsBoston...Upon talking to catering mgr, I found out that Fri & Sun were both cheaper that Sat. I think my biggest concern is the wedding party attends different churches & here, most services don't let out til 1:30. The other concern was decorating church on Saturday having service & ceremony Sunday. Not everyone is respectful of you stuff. You have parents that allow their children to touch things that don't belong to them, etc. I know decorating can be done afterwards, but I didn't want anyone to feel rushed, especially when pictures have to be taken...As for the florist, that will be my best friend & Honorary Matron of Honor which will be a savings and I have two aunts (one my mom's sister & the other my father's)that cater that I plan to use, if I can find a site that will allow us to bring in own food (which would be a huge savings)...

Bumble, I agree with you and that's one of the reasons I wanted to have ceremony on Sunday...God's Holy Day & also because I wanted to make & decorate both the wedding & groom's cake & having that Sat free would give me some extra time to do it.

Re: MsBoston

Thanks.
One thing I can say tra, is that you don't want to feel rushed having to get people out of the church(you know sister______will stay there till next sunday if she could) And you're right, some people won't respect your belongings if you left it set up for sunday service. I forgot to mention that I am not having the ceremony @church, I think that makes a big difference in making the choice.
Go girl with making your own wedding cake!
I remember having the hardest time finding a venue that allowed my own choice in caterers>that was a pain.

Re: MsBoston

I KNOW right!!!I got sick from the sheer selection.
I'm gonna have to have my girlfriend ship me a pair that I passed over. I knew I was gonna regret not getting them. The were too cute, I was gonna wear them to a wedding next month.
You lucky Jersey girls~!

Re: MsBoston

Here's a link to the place. Although there's a big selection online, I think there's a better selection in the store.

Bare Feet Shoes

They have locations in Pennsylvania, Jersey, Maryland, Virginia, Illinois, Wisconsin, Georgia & Florida.
