I've seen the infomercials about Bare Minerals makeup and I'm interested in checking it out. Has anyone tried this product or know anyone who has? I have very oily skin and I hate wearing foundation.

i have not seen the results on women of color but several of my other coworkers have tried it and it does go on smooth and u cant see where it starts and u begin. There is an outlet in Orlando if you happen to be in the neighborhood that sells it. I will find out more info on that.
[quote="DaughterRhonda"]I haven't tried it personally, but I've heard some good things about it. Taking a test run is the best way to make a decision.

It's just sooo expensive. Hard to take a test run without bustin' the wallet wide open. But plat, if you happen to try it let me know because i've been thinking about it too. You can be my test run!

Makeup looks best if you know what technique looks best on you. for example not everyone needs to wear foundation. And some people should NEVER never wear red lipstick. Nothing worse than some fool piling clown-like make up on you at the last minute thinking they know what looks good on you. You have 4 months to start experimenting...unless you are going au natural.

good advise. yes, bare minerals does costs some change but they have a starter kit that i dont think will break the bank but i will check. i was at the fashion fair counter this past weekend, only for lipstick, and the stand in told me she only wears MAC. its pretty pricey but you can have a trial run at saks or macy's if u cant find a stand alone counter. i am attached to iman but i am going to experiment with mac and see what the hoopla is about.
Thanks for your input, Ladies. I knew it wasn't cheap but I didn't know they had a starter kit. I'll check it out. By the way, I went to the website. Two of the models there are African-American.
Don't some department stores have bare minerals make-up counters? I could have sworn I saw one at Macy's or Dillards a few weeks ago. It might be them or a similar company. If so, they can apply some make-up for free to see if you like it.
I have this stuff & I got if from Ulta Cosmetics store here in NY. It was the starter set (approx. $45). Honestly, it looks great on the skin as the appearance of the foundation is almost non-existent (you don't look like a clown w/a ton of makeup on your face) & makes your skin look flawlessly even. However, after about 15 minutes of the stuff on my face... I itched horribly & ran for the 1st makeup remover towelette I could find. I normally don't have sensitive skin either.
I would recommend either having it applied on your skin @ Sephora (b/c they do free make-up w/the hopes that you buy the product) & see if it does the same thing to you. If you don't itch, go for it b/c the look of it is incredible.

I haven't been on in a while because the cord on my laptop burned up and I had to buy another. Anyway, I'm going to try to order the starter kit this weekend.
And do tell if it's worth the money. what...like 4-6 weeks untill you get it? I'm asking because I WILL mark my calendar...I need to know if it's worth trying/buying.
I didn't order the Bare Mineral kit. I saw an infomercial on TV for a similiar product called "Sheer Cover" and I ordered it yesterday. It cost less than Bare Minerals and it comes with more products in the starter kit. I should be receiving it in a few days. I'll let you know how I feel about it once I get home and try it on. (I'm in Kansas City now, headed to Denver Colorado. I should be home in about a week).
UPDATE! I was out of town and stumbled upon the 'bestest' mall i've ever experienced. The Gallaria in Houston TX. Anyway the point i'm getting to is they had a Sephora which carried bare minirals! So you KNOW I had to have the sister apply it on me. Bottom line was...and I can't say it'll be true for everyone, but I expected better results. It LOOKED like I was wearing makeup, and all I know is with the infomertials it didn't look like that.
So there she was...whirl tap apply with the kabuke brush, and I had to tell her to stop, it just looked like I had a bunch of powder on. I was disappointed on one hand yet relived on the other because I would have really ordered it.
Anyway, just wanted to share. And do try it out first at Sephora.
Thanks for your input, MsBoston. I've hearing a few pros and cons about Bare Minerals. I decided to order "Sheer Cover" because they offer 2 shades of the powder so just in case one doesn't match, you can blend them to make a more suitable shade. I'll try it anyway and let you know how it goes. Maybe, if I can FINALLY learn how to post a pic, I will try to post one to show.
By the way, where is that mall in Houston? I travel through there alot.( I hope they have room for my truck).
Plat, The Gallaria is right off 610West exit Westheimer Rd. 610 is off of I-45 South. Girl...they sure do have room for your truck, Dillard's ground lot probably...LOL for real. I'm gonna go check out sheercover, this is the second time I heard of that on Vi, and you know yall are the truth.
I do have to see the colors, sceptical about there only being two colors, I happen to be a very awkward shade of drywall!?!
Thanks, MsBoston. I think I've seen that mall before. The next time I'm in that area, I'll look for it. Also, remember that they have a money back guarantee just in case it doesn't work for you.
Ladies, please be careful having makeup applied at the mall. The news here did an expose on mall cosmetics and tests revealed all types of toxins and traces of feces in the testers.
I used to work in a mall for Clinique and Chanel and I NEVER once touched someone with out cleaning my brushes first or using fresh applicators. I can't speak for all people though unfortunately.

I tried the Sheer Cover makeup and I was pleased with the performance but they sent the wrong shade (it was too light). I didn't order the darker shade after that. I ended up buying Maybelline foundation (Cocoa is the shade) and it matches my skin to a "T". It almost look like I'm not wearing makeup at all!

Really???? Ewwwww!!!! I guess that comes from makeup artists that don't change their make-up brushes or wash their hands. Thanks for the info, Sista.

I think georgiagurl had her makeup airbrushed. I am thinking about doing a trial to see how it works but am still looking for someone to do it.
