Ok, so I'm home and it's raining, what more have I got to do than to plan my own wedding. So, I've got my bride had on and from time to time, the coordinator in me wants to put her 2 cents in. Anyways, I was looking at the list of favors that we wanted to give and it's considerable and then I started to think about how I would feel if I had to lug all these things to my car after a very long and happy night. Then I thought that I don't want to burden my guests and started looking for ways to eleviate that burden.
Originally, we're giving our guests votive candles and holders, a CD our some of our favorite love songs, champagne and such. But then again sisters, I've been thinking.
Please tell me what you think. For our theme, we were thinking of something extremely elegant, something that totally describes me and our love. We came up with " A Love Affair To Remember". So, we decided that we want to give our Adult guests a copy of our favorite movie "An Affair to Remember", very old with Cary Grant and... anyways... I was raised by grandparents, so I watch a lot of old movies... Anywhoo, how about a box like this
ok, I hope this posts. Anywhoo, a box like the one above right, inside it, there will be a copy of our favorite movie together "An Affair To Remember, a small bottle of champagne, popcorn, the music CD, etc... The bad news is that the box only comes in white, so, I was thinking that I would wrap some with Merlot ribbons and some with Dusty Rose ribbons. What do you guys think.
I hope this box came through okay.

Thanks Divas!!!
I like the movie idea!! that is VERY unique and elegant!!! would you decorate the box? and if so-how?
See that's the thing msj, box box is white and that's the only company that sells them for reasonable price (50 ~ 8"x8"x3" for $64.00), So I was planning on buying 2 cases for $128. But I haven't been able to come up with how I'm going to decorate the boxes. I was thinking of having our Monograms on the box and wrap it in ribbons. I'm not sure what do you think?
OMG Ginoue, I had this same idea when I was planning my wedding. One of my favorite movies is LOVE JONES and I wanteds to give every couple a copy but the expense of it would have been crazy and I thought burning muliple copies would have seemed tacky like giving something bootleg.
You could also look into finding a picture from a scene in the movie and printing it as artwork for each couple. OR you and FH could take a black and white photo mimicking something from the movie with a caption Love Affair to Remember starring (your names here).
"I'm a work in progress, God is not through me yet"
Pamcrow, I hear you on the expense of the movie. I too was going to give original copies, but when I contacted Turner Movie Classic network and found out how much it would be to order 50 (See, I'd plan on giving the movie as part of a romance package to couples only), and even at a discount, the cost was more than I wanted to spend.
So FH and I plan on making 50 of those 8"x8"x3" boxes for our guests (couples). On top of the box, I will use Calligraphy to duplicate our Monograms on the box cover. Inside the box, we will have a miniature bottle of champagne, a copy of the movie "An Affair To Remember", a package of popcorn, 2 sugar-cookie cakes wrapped in cellophane and tied with ribbons, a CD of about 18 - 19 of our favorite love songs, a square votive candle holder with Dusty rose candle, a black and white picture of us (thanks for the idea Pamcrow diva. I love it!!!), and a nice "thank you" note from both of us saying "wishing you both a night of pure romance". Then we will tie the box with big ribbons.
For our single guests, we will give a CD with 18 - 19 of our favorite love songs and a sugar-cookie cake (they were on Martha Stewart's show and they look like miniature wedding cakes, but made out of cookies).
What do you think ~ Pamcrow?
Sounds good Ginoue. I'm sure your guests will love the romance package. My only recommendation though is to either scale down the contents of package for couples or beef up the package for singles. I only say this because there seems to be a huge disparity in what you are giving couples vs singles. Otherwise than that minor suggestion, I think this would be a hit at your reception and VERY memorable.
"I'm a work in progress, God is not through me yet"
Thanks Pamcrow. I really want the couples to have their romance package, but I will also find ways to add more to the singles package. I'll look for ways to increase it. Maybe I will place the singles favors in a bag tied with ribbons. If you have any ideas as to how I could scale up the gift bag for the singles, I'm all ears because, I don't want them to feel slighted just because they're not married.
Thanks again for all your help and ideas Pamcrow in solidifying a gift package for our wedding guests, the couples. I'll keep brainstorming on the singles package, but you let me know if you come up with something.
Thanks again,

I think that would be really cute!!!!! Can't wait to see your sample!! :)
Ginuoe, great idea!
To make the theme flow why don't you name tables with your favorite romatic movies or couples.
Also Of course simplicity is best. Why not take a wide rose-colored ribbon, and put a narrow lavender ribbon on top to tie the boxes in? Then attach a beautiful silk flower with the color of your choice to the box. Then sit that box at each table setting on top of your plates.

Msj, since we're still in the planning stages, this project won't happen for a long while yet, but please rest assured that as soon as I make a mock up later on in the year, I will be more than happy to post it so you can all see.
OMG Bumble ~ Great minds do think alike!!! I woke up this morning with the very same idea of taking a Wide Rosy Mauve Satin Edge Organza Ribbon (1 1/2" wide) and putting a narrow Wine Satin Edge Organza Ribbon (3/8" wide) on top to tie the boxes!!!
I love the idea of tying a beautiful silk flower of different colors. I will borrow that if you don't mind Diva!!! Thanks a million!!!
