Good Morning Sista--I'm new to the site and am glad that I stumbled across it. My hubby and I are planning our 10th year anniversary. When we originally married, we went to the JOP (Justice of the Peace). I have searched several websites regarding re-affirmation of vows, and have discovered that you're not supposed to have a formal wedding when renewing your vows. Since we had never had a formal wedding, we wanted to have a formal intimate renewal of the vows ceremony/reception. We are at the beginning stages of planning and have not thought of a theme, colors, number of guest or anything. I was hoping to get some suggestions from my new sistas. Please help a sista out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dusty Rose it is---now look at contrasting colors to compliment dusty rose, also consider the time of day for the wedding, that should help you decide.

September - this year? And where are you from? BTW, I'm Askalot. Welcome to the site and congrats on your 10 year marriage.
Hi Askalot...No, we're planning for Sept 2007. I'm from the Maryland area. What's your take on having the ceremony and reception in the same place? We're on a tight budget...so I want to plan wisely.

Lala, I'm also getting married Sept 2007 (Sept 15). I think having them both at the same place is a great idea. I'm also having one venue for both. Have you started looking at places and getting some idea of where you want to have it?
Welcome Ms.LaLa, The temperature is great in September (depending on where you are). The day belongs to you and you hubby, do whatever makes you happy. Dusty rose is a pretty color, pearl, ivory, silver, gold, some many options to mix with that.

Welcome! My name is Tara and my husband Terrence and I are also renewing after 13 years. We are having a formal ceremony. We decided that it's what we want, so its what we are doing. I have researched several sites and some say do what you want but others have all of these rules about what you can and cannot do even about what you should wear, in the end it's your day!
Were getting married.........again!
Tara you should contact Joanne at Something Set Apart. She's in ATL, I imagine she would know of some great locations there.

Thank you so much, Platinumstyle. Bargain tips would be very helpful for sure. We want a nice ceremory and reception, but don't want to drain our accounts in the process. I hope I'm not sounding cheap. :-(

Check ou the American News Womens Club in DC(http://www.anwc.org/rates.html), The Crown Plaza in Crystal City near Pentagon City (http://www.cpnationalairport.com/), The Atrium at Treetops in Lnadover (I'm guessing this is over by Jasper's and the Outback), Brookside Gardens (www.brooksidegardens.org) in Wheaton. Anywhere but La Fontaine Bleu in New Carrollton, they've gone down in quality by quite a bit.

Niquey you ain't no joke!

Girl, I get around! When I need a break from the boys, I hop in the car and spend the night in Philly, or hop a train to Boston. My next escape is to Niagra Falls, but I'm waiting until it gets warm. I'm a firm believer in a cheap get-away.

I lived in PG-New Carrollton in the little neighborhood back behind the Ramada/Sheraton/whatever-the-hell-they-call-it-now hotel off 450. I'm liking the Atrium and the Crown Plaza. Please keep us posted, let us know how your visits went.

101 degrees - that's egg frying weather...we are in the 80's here but for some strange reason or the other we are having really horrible weather yesterday and today - it rained all night and I did not send my kids to school today......I thought we were have an early hurricane.

Hello All! -- I am new to this site and think it's a great site! I too am renewing my vows in 2008 after ten years of marraige! This is so important to me considering that my husband and I didn't have a wedding so I want to have everything - ceremony and reception. Because we were married on valentines day I plan on having the ceremony on February 15, 2008 in the Philadelphia area. If anyone has any ideas of a fabulous reception site that would be great. Also, any ideas for a small budget? I have expensive ideas but am working with a budget of 20,000 if not less. Thanks! I'm starting early so I don't have too many issues later on.
Welcome!
20k is soooo doable, and since you have a jump start by not waiting untill the last minute you'll have lots of time to shop around, price compare, and do some internet shopping (that's where the real deals lie!) If you browse through the forums here on Vi, I'm certain you will find lots of fantastic ideas.
Not from your area, so i'm no help on venues. Do you have a theme/color that you would like to go with?
Welcome and Congrats! Just like MsBoston stated I too am most certain that you will find great ideas from this site. You should look in your local telephone book to find diffrent venues, or you can go to weddingchannel.com they usually have loads of venue spots, etc... in your area. Good luck and once again welcome.

Welcome Phenomenal! Do it up girl. I am excited for anyone whose marraige has withstood the test of time and now you want to renew those vows! Awesome and so encouraging for those who are newly married like myself and the other ladies who are brides to be. Congratulations to you and your husband!
Delight yourself in The Lord & He will give you the desires of your heart!Ps 37
Welcome Phenomenal.....I have seen these girls make a bomb wedding from just 5000! You can definitely do it with 20,000.
The key is proper planning, flexibility, and a cool head....Don't be surprised when in the middle of planning, you realize the desire to scale back isn't always a bad thing! Plus it minimizes headaches. Details are important but need not be aggravating!
Also remember that we have heard it all, so don't be afraid to ask us about anything....You can solve/prevent a lot of problems here! Trust me I know!
These ladies help me come back to Earth!
We've been Happily Married 2 Years and Counting:)
